Ah, I had a similar rig until i upped to a XP 2700+ in 2004. Great motherboard. Currently assembling the parts for a 939 system, hoping to catch price drops on those X2's next year.

Main (and only) system is an Asus A7V333 with a XP1700+ @ 1.9 ghz. About 3.5 years old now. When I can buy an X2 for <$100, then I'll upgrade (come on Conroe!). I'm surprised I've lasted this long. I only had my previous systems for no more than two years. My Win2k system still works well enough for my Photoshop/RAW conversion needs. Processor speeds have really seemed to tail off from those crazy days when it seemed like every week the processors were increasing clock speed by 10%.

What I really want to upgrade is my crappy Geforce Ti4200. Not because it's underpowerd, but because it's so f@cking loud. Hmm. Maybe I should disable the fan and underclock the GPU.....

got a ecs m/b + 2000+ palo deal when those were 69bucks at frys. after a while i tossed in a ~50 dollar 2400+ mobile barton and o/c'd it to 2.3ghz using socket pin mods and bridging:) in theory 3200+ atleast pr rating, but the ddr 266 max cuz of mb drags that down a bit. still works fine, so no complaints. frys combos stayed stagnant for a long time once the two companies hit the frequency barrier and slowed down on their releases.

prior to this computer, i had 3 athlon xp rigs, which really forced me to get away from that platform and onto socket 939.

First was a Palomino 1600+ Thoroughbred XP2000+, a Barton 2600+

Athlon XP 2400 system here. It started out as an AXP 1700 around 2002ish, but I've since upgraded just about everything on it at some point.

It's still working plenty fine for most things I do, especially considering the fact that I don't play many current-gen games.

I had an AXP 2500+/A7N8X-DX system up and running up until about a month ago. I parted the system out, and as far as I know the parts are still going strong in other systems right now.

I've mostly switched to using the laptop; but my old XP 2100+ / Radeon 9700Pro is ticking along just fine. It's mostly just the family web/email box nowdays.

*sigh* It feels like only yesterday that that things was a gaming god box. I must be getting old.
