Back in the day, I was a professional drunk driver.

When I was a sophomore in college, I had my one lesson learned and haven't operated a car after having more than 2 beers since.
That was back in 1993. My GF and I had just left a bowling alley and I had probably consumed around 7 beers. I didn't feel trashed by any means but I knew I shouldn't have been driving. Was about 4 miles back to my apartment. Made it back to the service road without any issues. That's when I noticed a state trooper pull out behind me and hit the blue lights. I knew at that moment I was about to go to jail with my first ever DUI. He pulls me over and I'm about to burst into tears at this point. He asks me if I knew how fast I was going and I said I wasn't sure but that I was less than a mile from my apartment. He told me I was going around 45 in a 35 and that I should be more aware of the speed limit considering I lived off that road. He then told me he was just giving me a warning and for us to be more careful.
Wasn't really out of the woods at that point because he followed me back to my apartment complex, where he was aparently friends with the security guy in the little entrance building out front of the complex. But, I made it back to my place without a speeding ticket and without a DUI. Personally, I don't think there's ANY way in hell he couldn't tell I had been drinking. It had to be obvious but I'm convinced that he was just in a damn good mood, knew I was young and about to have my life screwed up with a DUI and he chose to let us to go home since we were so close.
I vowed that night to NEVER have more than 2 beers and get behind the wheel and I've stuck to that self-promise ever since then. Simply not worth it to put your life or someone else's life in danger. And I tend to not even drink two beers before driving unless I'm having dinner or lingering at a home/bar long enough for it to have no impact on my driving.

We had this thread before. Several people admitted to doing it. The holier-than-thou crew came out in suprisingly small numbers - mosly the straight-edgers here.

You mean the people that actually listened to the 1000s upon 1000s of warnings that are given nowadays about doing such a neglectful and potentially seriously dangerous act?
You and me both brother...Originally posted by: phantom309Young men sometimes do stupid things, and I got away with more than I deserved to. I certainly wouldn't do it today..
