How many of you have cheated on their significant other?

I've never cheated on any of my boyfriends, even the dumb little short-term relationships. I would never cheat, I'm not the type, and I don't "get" people who can be unfaithful.

I absolutely agree. I have met a really great girl, while being in a relationship of 1 year. However, after I realized that I want to be with this girl, I simply broke up with my girlfriend. However, that new girl totally played me -- so now I'm thinking maybe I should've cheated and stayed with my old girlfriend. Ahh, it's too complicated.
 
The ONLY rule regarding cheating is: if you cheat, the other person can NEVER find out.

Other than that, I have no moral judgements regarding cheating.

Anthropologically, the chaos created in a society by such a scenario would not fair well for "the gene pool". Unless of course you view the Bonobo monkeys and their structure as somehow superior or inferior to the human one.

Just look at just about any other Primate species: every group of females and offspring is led by one Alpha male. Young Alpha males can challenge the leadership of the adult Alpha male when they grow up. If they win, they become the new leader. This leader has the right to mate with every single (grown-up) female in the group. All other males in the group are not supposed to mate with these females, yet some manage to do so anyway.

I'm quite convinced that a similar structure would form once we let go of this silly monogamy.

Of course, we can also show that we are indeed a more advanced species and abolish the 'normal' way of reproduction altogether, after which we use genetical engineering and growing-chambers to create offspring. It would only be a short leap from that point to becoming fully artificial beings.

Ah yes, the social organization of monkeys is a perfect microcosm of human society. :disgust:


Not to mention such a situation would incredibly inbred. Not so great for the gene pool.


Might I remind you that it would also be a logistical nightmare, to say the least, to pay, care for, educate such a large group of bastard children.

The wonderful thing about people is that they are different. And there can be more than one "right" person. Anybody who thinks there is ONE right person, hasn't been with enough people. 😉

You have no faith in the goodness of others, no good ideals to work off of yourself, or some combination of the two. I assume you're also one of those that thinks everything would steal? Some of us do actually set standards and follow them.

Personally I think cheating is truly bad. If you want sex with other people either be a strong enough person to tell your partner that you want to have sex with other people and keep dating them, or tell them its over. Either way don't hide stuff like that.
 
Not with my current gf I haven't. I can't honestly say I won't though, I don't think anyone can for sure.
 
I've never physically cheated, but I have emotionally cheated. And that's just as bad, if not worse. And I plan on NEVER doing that again.

That Alpha male, however, is usually the largest, strongest, meanest, most ruthless of all the males. These are not always the traits one would want as dominant in the gene pool. Wouldn't we also want intelligence, compassion, reason and gentleness represented?
