meh, I'm up as I generally am over the year.

remember there take isn't much, but over the millions that go in and out of the casino they take a big amount.

For my bank roll of 600 bucks I'm happy to break even.

Sometimes I lose it all (take 3 weeks ago - entire bankroll gone in 1.5 hours at BJ).
Sometimes I win alot (take last week, took 2500 on that roll).

it all evens out and the way I look at it I'm paying for entertainment. Blackjack wise their take is 3%.

remember that there are people that do this for a living - horses, BJ, poker.

I have a hard time understanding how people become addicted to gambling, but thats just me, I don't even find it fun.

i've been to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun and they're both the same. If you've never been to a casino before and you're not going to gamble much, go to Atlantic City. It's more fun

i have been to casinos, christmas party there every year, but i have never gambled and never will, i can get my fill of gambling out of the stockmarket

Been to Foxwoods and Mohegan Sun as well. They bring the retired people in by the bus load from all over New England and New York. I find it entertaining watching some 75 year old woman with a 4 inch butt hanging out of her mouth while hogging three slot machines, gambling her retirement away. People coming out of the bathroom after giving themselves a sponge bath because they've been there for three days is mildly entertaining as well.

Seriously though, you never see anybody smiling at a Casino - well, unless they've won. Take it or leave it - I leave it.

I'm 24 and i never gone to a casino yet, so i was thinking of going to Foxwoods or Mohegan Sun, just for one afternoon.

Is it a lot of fun?

My mom is coming into town this week, I'll offer to take her to one of those places. We're about 45 min from Foxwoods, not sure about Mohegan Sun. I've never been to either, but have been to several casinos in St. Louis.

I've been getting into hold'em lately so I'm anxious to check out the poker room at Foxwoods.

They're a lot of fun if you have reasonable expectations.

Yes... been to a casino. Too much noise, smoke, and flashing lights for my tastes. I'd rather gamble where it's a little less hectic.

Don't even think about playing Texas Hold'em unless you get off on losing money. Too many decent players and the minimum tables are still rather expensive.

best way to avoid these sharks is to join a training session on hold em, usually they will start a real table after the lesson ends

but of course there will be potential sharks

I use to work at a casino as a card dealer. It was the funnest job I've ever had! The pay was excellent too. The only reason I left was because it was a dead end job. So, I left and went to school.

It was not a dead end job for me.

When my work had me overnight near Mohegan Sun I would go there.
Also took my wife there a few times. It's not bad, nice places to eat, some interesting shops, and gambling is ok.

We normally only spent $20 a piece. One time I tried the card game tables and ended up spending $35 that visit. $20-$35 may not seem much but it does last a while and it's all I really feel comfortable losing. I'd be rather unhappy if I lost $100+.

Edit: If it's your first time. Take in only what you feel you can comfortably lose. Leave all your extra money, credit cards, and checks in the car. Would suck to find out $5,000 later that you're easily addicted to gambling.

go as often as i can. more of a socil thing for me though. sit and play cards, and meet all sorts of "interesting" people.

I live in vegas durin g summer and go to school in Reno. It's a rare week when I don't go into a casino (not 21 quite yet, so no gambiling).

Casinos are definitely not my thing, but I can see where people are coming from who do like them - I love betting on harness racing 😀
