As we come to the close of Q3 of 2009 I'd like to reflect a bit on what has happened.
1) I started making real money again.
2) I drink about 20% of what I used to.
3) I am falling in love with my wife all over again.
4) It looks like our adoption is getting closer.
5) I feel good about myself, and I am loosing weight.
For this first time, in a long time, I am optomistic about the future.
I want all of you to know that no matter how bad things look, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, I swear it. It's there if you work for it.
1) Laid off in November 2008, got a better paying job in the middle of a near depression in Feb 2009. Feeling pretty blessed considering the state of the economy.
2) Drink about the same, but started drinking non-sugared sodas and cut down soda intake by at least 50%.
3) Wife secretly planned a trip to Vegas for our 10th anniversary in November (she just told me last weekend). I fell in love all over again too. I also have a newfound respect for her ability to squirrel away money

.
4) Oldest son (he is 6 today!) started kindergarten this year. Youngest son, age 2.5, started pre-k this year.
5) Feeling much better about life, but haven't lost the weight...yet. Plan to start exercising more for that Vegas trip. I seriously want to be in better shape now.
6) Smoked Djarum Black clove cigarettes since college. Obama et. al. made them illegal to buy as of September 23rd, 2009. I suppose the government helped me quit smoking this year if you want to spin this in a positive light.
7) Started and maxed out a personal IRA account this year.
