DUDE! Are you serious? I totally did not know that.
For some reason I always pictured you as a skinny, tall mother fucker. Were you a skinny bastard in high school or something?

Hit 40 this year.

Been smoking (about 4 a day- not a heavy smoker) for the past 20 years.

Quit totally. Been a month now.

I started looking for a woman this year. I don't know why I didn't start earlier.

nope. I was always big, though it really exploded during college and my "lost years" immediately following college when my college roommate and I moved in together and pretty much did nothing for 3 years but work, smoke pot, eat junk food, and play video games... weighed 224 this morning, which is roughly about what I remember weighing freshman year of high school.

not tall either :p 5'10" on a good day, though my doc martens give me a couple extra inches. lol.

As we come to the close of Q3 of 2009 I'd like to reflect a bit on what has happened.

1) I started making real money again.
2) I drink about 20% of what I used to.
3) I am falling in love with my wife all over again.
4) It looks like our adoption is getting closer.
5) I feel good about myself, and I am loosing weight.

For this first time, in a long time, I am optomistic about the future.

I want all of you to know that no matter how bad things look, there is a light at the end of the tunnel, I swear it. It's there if you work for it.

1) Laid off in November 2008, got a better paying job in the middle of a near depression in Feb 2009. Feeling pretty blessed considering the state of the economy.
2) Drink about the same, but started drinking non-sugared sodas and cut down soda intake by at least 50%.
3) Wife secretly planned a trip to Vegas for our 10th anniversary in November (she just told me last weekend). I fell in love all over again too. I also have a newfound respect for her ability to squirrel away money ;).
4) Oldest son (he is 6 today!) started kindergarten this year. Youngest son, age 2.5, started pre-k this year.
5) Feeling much better about life, but haven't lost the weight...yet. Plan to start exercising more for that Vegas trip. I seriously want to be in better shape now.
6) Smoked Djarum Black clove cigarettes since college. Obama et. al. made them illegal to buy as of September 23rd, 2009. I suppose the government helped me quit smoking this year if you want to spin this in a positive light.
7) Started and maxed out a personal IRA account this year.

big changes. my wife left me back in April. she completely removed herself from my life.

2009 has been a year of reflection and self-discovery so far. doing what i want to make me happy and not worrying about pleasing someone else.

it's been rough. just day-to-daying it right now. within a week or two, i will be the sole owner of my home.

i bought a 40" Samsung HDTV on Saturday. she's my new girl. :)

Finally graduated, turned 25, had a mini-quarter life crisis and travelled the country most of the summer. Am now decompressing at my parents before deciding what to do next...

I work out 5 days a week both cardio and weight training.
Instead of 1-2 classes of night school, I'm now taking 3-4 to get it done!
I go out with more friends than I usually did.

Hmm...that's about it.

There may be light at the end of the tunnel, but it's an exceptionally long tunnel. ;)

Left my job to get a Ph.D.

This involved a move from Houston to Ithaca, NY, breaking up with the girlfriend, and a major paycut (at least I'm still getting paid).

We'll see how it works out. So far so good.

I know the feeling. Get it out of your system quickly then get into the work force if that's your ambition.
