I played it when it first came out, pretty fun but didn't really grab me and hold on. I'm replaying it right now though with the new patch, and framerates are much better (esp. in the snow).

Something I figured out when I played it the first time was that my 1280x1024 monitor works perfectly at 1280x768 when you turn scaling off (but letterboxed). That way I can play dx10 with all settings at Very High - 8800GTS 640 / e6400@3.2 / 4gb ram / Vista 64. You get a few jaggies but with motion blur on it doesn't affect you at all.

Yeah, there were some amazing moments with SAS in COD4. This is clearly one of the best shooters ever made.

I definitely would not go that far and in fact I enjoyed CoD2 much more than CoD4, which felt like nothing more than a "modern warfare" version of CoD2. I guess that is what they were going for though.

I played Crysis. Then I finished it. For this reason, I am not playing it now, at this very moment. I enjoyed myself, but it wasn't a particularly special game...a nice bump forward in the graphics department though. It justified its price tag.

The reason so many video discussions center on it is that it's basically the new high water mark for system killing. Remember two years ago when Oblivion came out and the same thing happened? It's not like this is a new trend.

I have a feeling I will have a similar experience as to when I played Far Cry. I played through it the first time and found it kind of boring, but replayed it a year later after getting new hardware, when I could crank the graphics and resolution on it, and it was like an entirely different game. At the very least I'm interested to see what it does to my rig.

KT

I am going to sell my copy after I finish. It'll probably take me a month or so. I am not to into it but i have to finish.

I can't seem to be able to PM you, so shoot me a PM when you are done with it and I will probably take it off your hands. :)

KT

Will do.

Now I'm spending much more time making maps than playing the campaign or multi-player combined. I just love SandBox 2.

I'd pay $500 easy for the sandbox. It made buying the game worth it, even if you dont like the "game"

Played through it, loved it. I plan to play through again once I get my second 3870.

i only use it for benchmarking and seeing how slow and uneffective a game engine nowaday can be :)

3dmark is a valid and good "general" 3d benchmark and its a good reference point if you compare to other cards. There is nothing wrong with it - and the single score given at the end is clearer than 500 benchmarks on whatever game engine under countless different resolutions.

Its HIGHLY unlikely that "real life gaming performance" differs greatly from the 3dmark results, respective.

Too bad its true. nVidia does very bad in 3DMark compared to ATi's current offerings, but nVidia recently has performed better in terms of real gameplay.

Same here, the game looked good with my x1900xt but hopefully will look great in 1-2 years. I kind remember doing the same thing with FarCry.

played, beat, and enjoyed the SP. No interest in going back or playing MP.

Good game though

Reminds me of Far Cry. My vid card 7900gs does not handle the graphics well. I uninstalled mine. My copy is for sale........

How much "effort" should I put into a game for it to be fun?

I fail to see how anyone can say Crysis is not fun, at least to some extent, well, unless they don't like FPS's in general.

Then again, I grew up on FPS and can appreciate the evolution of the genre.

Just because I;m an FPS fan doesn't mean I should love all FPS games. There are a lot of stinkers out there and Crysis is one of them.

I'm playing it. I like it, but not as much as I liked FarCry. Right now, I'm in the alien hive area (not sure how far along that is). One thing I've found out, rather than wasting a LOT of ammo trying to hit and kill the aliens (who swim REALLY fast), you can fire a couple of rounds to get their attention and then hide in some nook/cranny. When the alien gets really close, you can leap out ang grab them. Then you can easilly punch them to death with 5 or 6 punches. It can be a bit tricky, but it sure if fun.

It's a good game, but I liked FarCry a bit more because I really like stalking around in the jungle and there was more of that in FarCry.

I've been playing FPS games for as long as they've existed. Crysis was pretty mediocre until I turned the cheats on. Even then, it was still nowhere near as entertaining as Half Life 2.

Well there we go, I didn't think HL2 was all that, and EP 1 and 2 were just plain bad. I slowly forced my way through both of them waiting for the good stuff. HL1 on the other hand, I loved.

To each their own and there's no accounting for taste.

Yes, sneaking around the jungle is the best part of these games :D They implemented stealth very well and realistically. Even if the guards see you, you can run and hide and they will go to your last known location and start searching for you.

I'm in the same boat as many in this thread. Played it once, liked it a lot but was disappointed with the short length, will play it again once I get better hardware.
