How many of those who complain about war have served?

I see a lot of whining. But as a relative moderate who leans slight right, I feel like some of you whine without foundation. I want to know how many of YOU have served in Iraq. I want to know how many of you served at all.

I wonder how many dead soldiers whine about the war, maybe you should make a poll?
While you're at it I'll be canvassing the forum searching for impoverished Iraqi families as well.

What are you saying? I need to "serve" my country before I voice a opinion that my goverment may not agree with?

No, but thanks for puting words into my mouth. I was asking a question, you were assuming things that weren't said. I just think that people who have worked toward a cause have stronger convictions for it. It is often all too evident those who take their neighbor's work for granted.

What branch and where? Just curious about some AT soldiers' backgrounds in the military. Do you find it frustrating when people make false claims as though they have gone and experienced what you have?

AF, and caught the tail end of VN, and did some other things. Truthfully I don't like to talk about it much. A lot of us from then don't talk about it among ourselves.

Far as what others say? Who knows. It's the intarweb, and everyone can be a general for all I care. I take everything with a grain of salt.

you're OBVIOUSLY asking a loaded question. he isn't putting words in your mouth rather your expressing them with every post.

Did I ever serve? No.

Is my opinion less valid than on from someone who has? No.

Do you ever ask yourself if those who support war (this/or any) have ever served?

Well, obviously anyone who supports this phony war must be serving right now, in Iraq. If they are not, they are hypocrits! Right? Follow the logic people.

I didn't put any words into your mouth, I asked you a question in return.

I can't join the military, even if I wanted too. Nor, should anyone have to join the miltary before they voice their beliefs.

Likewise, I tried to enlist, but due to partial deafness I can't be accepted. I am a firm believer in earning anything I have, so I do my part to work with the military through what I do. I don't think you should HAVE to serve either, but certain things would be more appreciated if you had to do your own work to get them. For me, freedom of expression is one. I feel like I am entitled to it without a doubt. Is that saying that you aren't? Not necessarily, but I might take it more to heart.

I've got metal in back and I can't join because of that. Well, that is nice that you like to earn what you have. Guess what, people before us died so future generations could have more. Are founding father knew that they couldn't suddenly make slavery go away or even think about things like gay marriage. It would never happen, instead they worded the consitution so it could move to things like that.

i tried to enlist, but they decided that i was not overall up to it healthwise. In retrospect i'm glad they diodn't let me in. College kicks the militaries ass.

Smells like flamebait, to me.

WTF difference does it make if someone served or not?

Not flamebait, honest inquiry. The results are about what I expected too. Try asking the same thing on a Jeeps board or gun board (many of which I am also a part of) and you'll see almost the exact opposite if what you see here. I just find it interesting how groups separate by hobby and many in the hobby have similar backgrounds and similar political stances.
Computer nerds and grease monkeys are opposite sides of the labor spectrum. Also opposite sides of the political spectrum I am finding. It was just a shock to see the extreme left stance in this forum when compared to the extreme right stance of Jeepers and firearm owners. I side with neither, but see points on each side.

This forum is definitely quicker to jump down someone's throat and get offended by "loaded questions" that are really just inquiries. Most other forums wouldn't see this as a loaded question or a flame. It would just be a question that another member asked. Because a lot on here didn't serve though, they seem to think I'm degrading their opinion and worth. Those who have served likely didn't feel the same way.

I may have posted on this board long long ago. Or, this may be the 1st time!!!! Can't recollect.... 9 years of the InterWeb and I forget where I've been!!!

Anyway......

Volunteer Southeast Asia wargames and the Mayaguez Incident.

Support the troops but not the federal government, an entity in my opinion of for and by an elite class that uses propaganda most effectively to convince the huddled masses yearning to be free that all is as it should be.

The lower classes are providing the cannon fodder while the elites continue to amass an ever-growing percentage of the nations wealth.

When those troops return too many will be competing with MILLIONS of illegal aliens for jobs, affordable housing, etc.

My greatest wish is for someday the military will turn those guns around and march against the elites, their corporate buddies and special interest groups and do as the Founders wrote is the right of the American people...... to take our government back.

It won't happen as long as the elites are signing the paycheck and providing benefits to the family. In terms of competing with illegals, no. Most of the military are trained in specific trades of some sort of join trades afterward. I have seen more people turned into successes from the military than I have seen destroyed. In fact, I haven't seen any destroyed, but I wasn't around for 'Nam and I hear it was bad. I just haven't come across any personally that were returned in worse stances than they left.
