I own about $800 less than the OP. If I wanted to watch all the ones the OP owns, it'd cost me about $100 in rental fees. So, yeah. What would you do with $700? (buy DVDs?)

My number is about the same. I lost my concentration when I was at 105 at around 200 on the list due to a phone call.

I'd say there are only about 10 more that I can even conceive of being worth owning. Which is not bad, that would mean it's about 125 out of 250 worth owning. As to the rankings... I strongly disagree with most, but agree that most (of the ones I own, of course) belong on the list. Not all.

#5 is seven samurai. If you haven't seen it, go see it. It's better than all of the films above it, though not as good as a couple below it.

It seems you should have made a distinction between "own" and bought :)

I have:

Magnolia
2001 A Space Odyssey
L.A Confidentail
and a few others not on the top 250

i try to collect them, but i stopped doing so last year.

i probably own about 75% of those, but i'm not going to be bothered to count right now since i'm eating lunch.

Can't believe I just counted....47

there are a lot of movies on that list that I plan on buying...but I've tried to be better about randomly buying DVDs...it used to be an addiction.

DVDs are expensive...but I havn't paid over $17 for a DVD ever. I have just 45 on the list of "top 250"...I probably have well over 300 dvds. None of which are copies.
