Basically 10 rules the christian god says you have to follow. Religious law if you like.

Personally, I think I'll take the life of fun loving sin topped off with a miraculous death bed repentence... just in case ;)

Jews believe in the Old Testament - thus believing in the Ten Commandments as well. Not sure of the mormons, jehovah's witnesses, etc do as well...? I think they do.

Back before Christ came if you believed in God and broke one of His commandments, you had to sacrafice a lamb. Not just any lamb either, had to be the cream of your crop....one with any blemmish or anything, had to be near perfect. So you couldn't go take a lamb that had a broken leg that you were going to kill anyway...it had to actual mean something.

FFMCobolt is guilty of coveting his neighbor's ass.

Borrowing heavily from the Old TEstament (all Judaic religions do)

Muslims use the Ten Commandments too

I've only broken two since 1996:)

Now the Seven Deadly sins is another matter.

1. Pride is excessive belief in one's own abilities, that interferes with the individual's recognition of the grace of God. It has been called the sin from which all others arise. Pride is also known as Vanity.

2. Envy is the desire for others' traits, status, abilities, or situation.

3. Gluttony is an inordinate desire to consume more than that which one requires.

4. Lust is an inordinate craving for the pleasures of the body.

5. Anger is manifested in the individual who spurns love and opts instead for fury. It is also known as Wrath.

6. Greed is the desire for material wealth or gain, ignoring the realm of the spiritual. It is also called Avarice or Covetousness.

7. Sloth is the avoidance of physical or spiritual work.

Yzzim knows his stuff.

I hate to get technical on all of you, but here is the problem. You don't have to actually commit the sin physically for it to be breaking a commandment. If you even look at a woman impurely, you have committed adultry. Ever thought about killing someone or hated them enough to kill them? There goes number 7. So I would have to say just about every person I have ever talked to is probably a 10.

If it wasn't for Christ, I would have to go buy a lot of lambs just so I could take them home and kill them.

LOL

Imperfection sucks ;)

And not to get too technical on ya, you'd have to actually take those lambs to sanctuary, have the sins be transfered from you to the lamb, then sacrafice the lamb on the altar of burnt offerings. After you were done with the lamb, the High Priest took the blood of the lamb into the "Holy Place" within the sanctuary and sprinkled the blood in front of the veil by the altar of incense.

So your sin pretty much went from you, to the lamb, to the sanctuary.

What made the sanctuary so important? Well, inside the sanctuary was the "Holy Place" where the High Preist did his work, and then the "Most Holy Place" where the Ark of the Covenant was held. Anyone who touched the Ark other then a High Preist was killed instantly :Q

Luckily for us, Christ is everything mentioned above.

same score for me as mto81

7 out of 10 commandment (haven't done and not planning to break 6 and 7, 9 it depends, don't have the need yet)
7 out of 7 Deadly Sins

but, I'm not catholic, so it's not a sin I guess.

What does working on Sunday have to do with anything?

Re-read #4 ;)

Too bad no one has broken any of these. The Ten Commandments aren't in effect any more. Since they aren't in effect, you can't break them.

I've not worshipped other gods, nor made a statue of any. I guess if you include the intent part I've broken 8.
The 10 Commandments do not say anything about not worshipping God at all btw :)

LOL. Now trying to fit all of those lambs in a U-Haul for our weekly trip to the sanctuary....

Remember the sabbath day, to keep it holy. Six days thou shalt labour, and do all thy work: But the seventh day [is] the sabbath of the LORD thy God: [in] it thou shalt not do any work, thou, nor thy son, nor thy daughter, thy manservant, nor thy maidservant, nor thy cattle, nor thy stranger that [is] within thy gates: For [in] six days the LORD made heaven and earth, the sea, and all that in them [is,] and rested the seventh day: wherefore the LORD blessed the sabbath day, and hallowed it.

With a good lawyer, maybe, 2.
By my interpretation, maybe 4-5.
By a religous zealots interpretation, probably 10.

I settled in on 6.

That gets me wondering. If my neighbour commits adultry, and is to be stoned to death, doesn't that violate #6? And most of my male friends have their hair trimmed even though it is forbidden (Lev. 19:27). How are they to die? And can I still play football if I am not allowed to touch the skin of a dead pig (Lev. 11:6-8). My brother has a farm, he's planting two different crops in the same field, and his wife wears garments made of different kinds of threads, now, do I really have to get the village together to stone them (Lev. 24:10-16) or can I just burn them like we with people who sleep with their inlaws (Lev. 20:14)?
