I live a mile from work. 🙂

So i dont imagine you use the car to get to work at all. I would kill to be that close to work, I'd walk/run or bike in every single day unless it was a typhoon or less than 0 degrees out.

1999 Toyota Camry V6, 215,000 miles on it now, had 109,000 when purchased in 2004, thats 106,000 miles in 7 years (actually 6.75 years to be exact, bought it in oct of 2004)... 106,000 / 6.75 is roughly 15,700 miles a year average.

over the past 5 years ive put about 145k on my truck. at 16mpg thats a big chunk of change. i usually drive about 250 miles a week just for work, more if i have a service call or install. good thing is, im supposed to use shop trucks now instead of my own so ive gotten a little goKart that gets 30+mpg for my DD. weekends i still drive about 200-300 miles, usually going places with my kids and/ or visiting friends and family. most of my high mileage was due to state-wide coverage for my job and using my own truck. i bet i max out about 16k a year now.

my motorcycle hasnt ran since my twins were 2. they are 14 now. when i parked it, i had about 95k on it, 30ish on a new engine. it was my DD until i had kids, and i rode the hell out of it. its probably a lost cause at this point, but it will roll again someday.

1500/yr, no lie. Mazda 97 coupe 4 cyl with 23,000 on it. More than my quad roller skates, but not by much...

Bicycle + skates > car.

All depends on location and lifestyle and demands. If i could, id use my bike, but i have no safe way of using it to get the 13 miles to work. Skates wouldn't be feasible at that distance. So for me Car > bike and skates. It would take me forever to get to work on skates, but again, no safe way to go.

I live ~45 miles from work and put ~25K miles per year on my car. My wife's office is ~15 miles away and she puts ~20K miles per year on hers. I also have a conversion van, a pickup truck, and a motorcycle but they get <500 miles cumulatively per yesr.

Now that I work 40 miles away from home, I'll probably be putting 25k miles a year on my car and nothing on my motorcycle as it has become inconvenient to ride.

I put somewhere between 12 and 20k a year on my cars depending on my road trips and if I'm in the country or not all year 🙂

edit: yay 4000th post.
