I was born and grew up in the US, and I love India. My parents were born there though. I love the currency rates... its like taking a taxi to the movies, watching a movie, going bowling, eat out, for like $10 a person in the US currency.

Was the coconut thing a joke or insult? We've called one of our friends a coconut because hes brown on the outside but white on the inside because of the things he does. Including but not limited to (That sounds like a lawyer's line): Not coming to parties even though mom and dad are going and all of us his age will be there, and we have a lot of fun too. When he does go to the party, hes arrogant and you can tell sometimes he has his head down or facing the other way when we walk by other people not at the party like we can't be seen with him. He doesn't respect the Indian culture either... I mean, even if you don't like it, doesn't mean you have to insult it.

Hey man, not to be too fobby or anything, but you should give it another chance. I didn't like it much as a kid, but when I went back a couple of times more, I grew to like it more. I too was born and raised in the US, in fact, I grew up in Palm Springs, CA....the ultimate in whitewashing. So, all I'm saying is give it another chance.

MD.

Yeah, i've had my own whitewashing, went to an all white school district all my life. Not saying I didn't like it or anything, but there weren't many Indians around to actually get to know the culture or anything. Although, main reason I didn't like India was because like 85% of the time I was sick and in bed or in the house. Didn't go out as much and I was only 13 when I went so I didn't actually get to go around myself or with friends (as in no parents). I'm 20 now and maybe i'll go again sometime, maybe...

Ya, dude, same here....I was sick with diarrhea, and hated it. However, next 7 times since, I wasn't sick at all. Much better when you're not sick. And, I've been there without my parents and chilled on my own. Now THAT was an experience. All I have to say after that is that Bombay is a PHAT town ;)
