I don't think it is a problem. I can think of one member for example that recently posted a pic of a potential girlfriend who wasn't exactly "hot" yet this same person has been known to bash others when they post pics. I agree ith you on the other factors but I think with the exception of very few true idiots everyone realizes that. It is simply tradition, as you stated, to haze your peers. Most people also realize that and don't take offense. Seems Ifestor held up pretty well and I think he expected some of the responses.

The only real problems is people who seek validation on the net or from anywhere other than themselves for that matter and that allows them to take offense. That is a personal problem and not an online community problem.

ATOT has a lot of closet misogynists.

ATOT also has a lot of misogynists that couldn't FIT into a closet even if you covered them and the door frame in butter.

EDIT: This is presuming you could stop them from eating the butter first.

Generally I think it's very amusing. You do yourself a disservice by taking it seriously.

Exactly. It is the same thing that has been going on forever. Now it can be done online though.

Unfortuanately though this doesn't seem to be acceptable behaviour because there are girl members.

Either she's wank material for a bunch of 14 year olds, or they bash her. Neither one of these scenarios seems to offer me anything positive. Plus, I don't need a poll of other peoples opinions to decide what I personally feel. I only gotta poll one asshole for the answer to that question.

My thoughts exactly.

Also, I usually don't post in YAGTs, especially the rate-this-girl ones. That's not to say I don't read them and have a laugh, I just don't post in them because they're kinda stupid.

Plus they belong in a different place entirely *cough*yagt.org*cough* ;)

"have the things you've seen/read here
influenced/altered your perceptions of your SO's appearance?"
Nope.

Peoples opinion don't matter to me about my SO's apperance. I know she is great and if she changed she'd still be the same to me

*nods* You can go ahead and try to moderate threads like that out of existence, but you'd better triple the number of active moderators on staff to pull it off.

Like it or not, it's part of male behaviour today. That's not to say that all of us will take part and reduce the poor girl to tears, but in the privacy of my own home I did chuckle at even the most cruel remarks made in that thread.

Yikes...

Sad discussion.

My first wife was not an attractive woman, 2nd wife very attractive.

Looks fade, it's wether they care about you or not that matters.

That being said, I can't be with an obese woman or a truly ugly woman (and I mean ass ugly or 50+ lbs overweight), the performance & desire aren't there. I tried in college out of despiration a couple of times, it wasn't a pleasant thing...

Never been ashamed.

What I am ashamed about is the fact that I share a species with some of the idiots on this board.

I wonder how hard you and the other "males" here would be laughing if it were you being made the object of ridicule, imagine page after page of having every aspect of your appearance critized, laughed at, your worth as a person decided totally on whether or not somebody would need to put a bag over your head before lowering themselves enough to bone you.

how hard would you be laughing ?

I really don't even understand why you continue visiting this forum. Almost all of your posts are full of your insecurities and hatred towards men. If your worth as a person is based on other people's opinions then you have a serious self esteem problem.

Everyone knows this forum is almost completely male population. Are there jerks here? Of course, but it's not because they are male. There are jerks in both sexes. I have gone and lurked in female only and female dominated forums. Guess what I saw? Men being ripped apart. Women talking about cheating on their husbands and exchanging tips on how to get away with it. Women talking about how to fool men into marrying them so they can then divorce them for their money and house. (Starter Marriage) Women talking about how short men, men with a small penis, and poor men are worthless, etc.

It goes both ways. Both sexes have their fair share of asses. Those of us that realize that ignore the negative comments unless they come from someone close to us. Seriously, if ATOT hurts you so much, why bother posting here?

I'm not defending the comments made by the shallow jerks. I'm saying that it's not likely to change and if you keep taking it so personally, then you're just going to get getting upset over a situation and people not worth being upset over.

Yeah I keep telling her to consider the source. I guess it's just unusual to encounter so many fcktards in one place. The difference is when I slam assholes for being sh!theels they don't let it get to them but when a woman correctly calls them on it they get their little egos all bruised.

Men tend to be hurt easier (emotionally) by women than men because they're out to impress women, I guess. Either way, I've noticed the same thing that you stated here.

Well trying to undo their piss poor parenting isn't going to happen here at ATOT no matter how much you try.

Maybe the reason they are what they are is due to years of rejection from the opposite sex. Being looked upon as less than a real man probably has made them extremely resentful towards women.

Eh, it's old hat.

If a guy friend has a new shirt on, you bug him about it.

New watch or jewelry? Ask him if he thinks the bling is gonna net him a crack ho.

New shoes? Ask him about his tapdancing lessons with the other fairies. (Though dance lessons are an excellent way to meet women.)

The cruelity is magnified online, but most to all of us don't care. Go ahead and ridicule a guy for page after page. I and others dish it out enough that I hope that we can take a little in return. My picture was once rather well known around these parts and it's even been the target of photoshoppers and whatnot.

Sarcasm, parody and mocking are a part of humour. If guys are worse online, you girls are far, far worse in person. We're kidding around and can grab a beer together after it's all said and done. You gals go for the jugular. I vastly prefer the little roasts we guys put on.

I can safely say that I've gained little to absolute zero developmental enhancement since I've come to ATOT. I have learned where to buy things cheap and that Bridgen should be on HGTV, but it hasn't impacted me negatively either.
ATOT sure hasn't changed the way I think about my wife.

Nah we have been very gentle towards you regarding your picture. I hate to tell you but you are a very ugly man. Of course it's ok for a guy to be ugly as they don't realize it unless they are told. On the other hand women see everyb flaw about themselves because it's always been beauty before anything else in American Society regarding women.

LOL :D I can barely express how pleased I am to hear that a 40-something white guy finds me ugly. Nonetheless if true, I am in a state of denial, not ignorance.

Women can put beauty before all else, or they can choose otherwise. We're not slaves to society.
