How many console systems can you name?

This seems to be making the rounds, and is a nice time waster. You have 12 minutes to name as many US console systems as you can.

http://www.sporcle.com/games/videogame_systems.php

I got 28. There are some recent systems that I had never heard of, so kudos to anyone who gets up towards the 50 range.

EDIT: Take the "test" before reading the thread! Might be spoilers.....

The software for that was a real pain on turbo grafx.

Anyway I only got 19. I cannot remember the first one that ever came out and that red one that you look into like a periscope and go blind in 20 minutes.

I forgot the genesis, gamecube, and game boy advance and dreamcast. Sad!

I'd never heard of the HYPERSCAN but this review is interesting. I cannot believe how awful that sounds.

The Magnavox Odyssey and the Virtual Boy are the consoles you are thinking of. :)

I got 41/68 :)

There is another game system missing from the list. If they mention 1989 Gameboy and then also the Gameboy color, they should also mention 2005 Nintendo DS (phat) and the Nintendo DS-lite. What about the Gameboy advance SP?

I'm guessing the DS and DS Lite don't count as separate because they are the same platform (and play the same games). Same thing for the Game Boys; GBA, GBC, and GB are three separate platforms, each of which maintained backwards compatibility. GBC games don't work on the original GB, GBA games don't work on the GBC or GB. GBA SP is the same platform as GBA (and GB Micro, for that matter), just a different model.

Got 37 without any spoilers.

***SPOILERS***

I didn't get, but really should have gotten:
Lynx, Master System 2, Jaguar, Amiga CD32, Virtual Boy, Game.COM, nGage, Gizmondo, GP2X.

Missing those kind of makes me embarrassed.

Indeed. The GBC did include some new hardware. Other ones I tried that didn't work and fall under the same catergory were the SegaCD and Sega 32X. I'm kind of surprised CDX was on the list, honestly, as it's simply a portable genesis/sega cd.

Yeah, I think the TurboExpress is in the same category, since it was just a portable version of the TurboGrafx-16.

Sega Nomad is in that category, too.

I got 27...I "sorta" cheated because I kept spelling turbografx 16 wrong...had to google it to find out the actual name. Same with Colecovision (I kept putting Calecovision). And for some reason I kept thinking that the Jaguar was actually the Leopard, I knew it didn't sound right for some reason.

Considering I know WHAT they were but couldn't spell 'em, that counts right!! ^^ :p

I also completely forgot nintendo 64, n-gage and the sega saturn.

edit: and whats up with the master system 2.. i didn't know sega made anything between the og master system and the genesis.

Out of those you listed, I managed to remember Jaguar, Virtual Boy, and surprisingly, the nGage. I attempted to put in the Phantom, but I couldn't remember if it ever actually launched or not.

31. Didn't catch the 3DO, Jaguar, Virtual Boy, Lynx, and a few other better-known ones. And I had to look up the spelling for TurboGrafx. I also kept typing in variations on nGage QD, DS Lite, GameBoy Advance SP, and I tried typing in Sega Neptune and Apple Pippin as well, but they didn't include them for some reason. I can understand with the Neptune since it was never produced, but the Pippin sold some units apparently.

I had trouble with TurboGraphx too.

First game system was Magnavox Odyssey, but it wouldn't accept it if you had Magnavox in there. It did show up as Magnavox Odyssey if you just type Odyssey.

The periscope was the Virtual Boy.

They didn't have Apple Pippin. :(

I got 34

Gameboy Color actually added important functionality though.
