How many books do you usually read a year ?

I seriously read around 400-500 books a year. Now if you look it by average that is more than one a day. Now the truth is that I will sometimes spend a few nights or a weekend(if nothing is going on) and read about 10 books. I don't consider myself a speed reader, but I do read extremely fast. I have been reading hundreds of books a year since the first grade(when I read 283 in a contest). Yes I comprehend everything and I have always done extremely well with tests on what I have read(36 on ACT in reading).

I just like to read. I read when I am taking a crap, I read before I go to bed, I read in my car before a class if there is nothing on the radio, I sometimes read in class if that day is boring, I read on trips, I read at home, I am almost always reading a book.

Probably about 50 or so, it is sometimes higher in the summer though.

I used to read way more than 10/year. And they were usually longer than normal (~600 pages...).

But sadly, I have only ready 1 book since I started university


I plan to catch up this summer though!

I've probably read 150 - 200 books in the past year, generally theology, metaphysics or classics since they are a bit tougher to process. I've gotten bored with all the predictable novels out there - they simply aren't very interesting anymore, just fluff - but when I did read them I could do a book a day.

It depends, like last year I read one or two. This year I've read none whatsoever. I still have my Left Behind book sitting on my book shelf.

Usually a couple. I've found some new stuff recently, so I'll be upping that. (12 volume History of Middle-Earth)

I wish I could find the time to do the same, though I'm a bit slower averaging, probably, +60 books a year at my best Perhaps when I retire. Whether or not I'm reading I find my collection is still growing at about the same rate.

Your scale is screwed. There should be ranges. I read 125 books a year. Sometimes I'll read 2 in a day, other times I won't read any for a week. I started picking out which novels to buy by the length, because I got tired of running out before I had time to get another book.

As far as the comprehension thing, I understand things very well, and got a 760 on the verbal part of the SAT. I can also give you a detailed plot of almost any book i've read since I was a child. I don't "speed read" I just read fast. Speed read implies that you learned some sort of technique to help you read faster. The book I read the fastest was "The Stand" by Stephen King, uncut edition. Over 1100 pages in 2 days.

At least 200 a year. I like to go to the bookstore after work, get a large coffee, and read until I finish or the store closes.

That scale should be more like 1-10, 11-20, 21-30, etc...

I probably read about 40-60 a year. Mostly classic works, plus a few Clancy books for variety.

After awhile it (reading) begins to hurt my eyes, I think my glasses are too strong. ;(

Anyways, I would say it has to be in the 100s.
