I voted no, because I rarely sell the HDD that was being used as my system drive, just usually swap out data drives for larger ones (80 for 160 for 250 is how it went). The only thing on there was tv episodes, music and images of my games.

I have sold old rigs with discs in them and i wipe, then reformat.

I am in process of wiping 12 SATA 250's that I will be selling in FS/FT in a week; or as soon as I can wipe 'em. I use the DoD spec 7 pass extended character wipe. since the drives were part of a raid array, unless one person orders them all it wouldn't matter anyway; and there isn't really anything useful on them anyway unless you want the papers I did in college or something.

i recently upgraded from 4 internal drives to one large external drive. I used the guttman wipe in dban on each of the drives before selling them.
