~200 ft. I'm not kidding.
I worked with a guy that was 200-300 ft from work & yet he drove almost every day. I know what his reasoning was, yet really never understood it.

What was it?

So when he got off work he could "go where ever"

that's kinda why I drive a lot of times, even though it's only a mile. never know when I'll have to go out to run an errand after work or pick up lunch for my department, and I won't necessarily want to delay each trip by 20 minutes, especially when any errands I'd have to run are in the opposite direction of home

Wow some of you should be stripped of a car.

I walk half a mile to the bus stop, take the bus for 3 miles, then walk another mile to get to college. 20 min on the bus.

I used to do something very similar. half a mile to the train station, 15 minute train ride (I would guess 7 or 8 miles), and then another mile of walking to get to college. It sucked: late trains, early trains, no seats, bad weather, stinky cars, puking passengers.

Now I live 52 miles from work, and I drive 2.5 hours round trip. I haven't decided which is worse yet.

I'm 3.5 miles from work, but when I don't feel like driving it (especially with gas prices going up) I just work from home.

The bus on way THERE gets full and I stand up so fatasses and kids (elementary school) can sit.
On way back the bus has like 2 passengers and moves quicker, too (15 min).
The bus is always clean and on way back the driver is cool as hell. We talk.

20 miles.

With no traffic it takes 30 minutes. With traffic? 1.5 hours

Mopac is Mo-packed.

That is why I work from 10-7

Its like 35 minutes, but I carpool with my wife so it usually takes like 45. Actually, the traffic is way worse doing the direct route so its probably more like 40 without the carpool.

Before they closed the freeway... 20-25 min

After they closed the freeway... 45 min

This had better be the best damn freeway area when they open it back up toward the end of next year.

13 miles

30-45 min going to
30-38 min coming back

Keeping fingers crossed that we will start doing work at home since it was rumored to go into effect once our building lease is up =\

After spending the last 3 years working from home, I'd love to be able to work at an office with real live people around. But then again, I enjoy not having to bathe/change/get ready when I'm still in zombie mode. It's one of those situations where I'm just content, and that's bad.

15 miles, typically 20-22 minutes, can be longer though it if a) rains, b) snows, c) is a monday, d)is an odd numbered day

40-50 minutes on a typical day. It is a LOT worse when it rains and slightly better when school is out (I have to pass UCLA).

Edit: It is about 15 miles one-way.
