How long does it take you to fall asleep each night?

I was talking to people, and it seems I take an usually quick amount of time to fall sleep each night. Normally when I lay down and close my eyes, I am fast asleep in 1 or 2 minutes, some times in just a few seconds.

Most people I spoke to indicate it takes them usually a good 10 to 15 min to fall sleep. I couldn't imagine having to lay there for 15 minute before I fell asleep.

I could close my eyes in elevator and be a sleep before I reach my floor.

I used to take anywhere from 10 minutes to a few hours. Now I honestly fall asleep almost immediately (heavy workload+going to bed when im actually tired)

What is scary is 3 times I have fallen sleep while driving too, just this terrible overwhelming urge to sleep overcomes me. Been into 2 accidents because of it.

I'm typically out within 15 minutes of hitting the bed...pisses my wife off because she has to wind down for an hour plus.

Been waaay out of wack lately because of some medication changes and pain, but seems to be evening out.

I could close my eyes now, and I will be a sleep in 2 minutes or so. For me it is all day desire to sleep. If I am not doing something physical, I will fall asleep in minutes every time.

An hour plus, damn I would hate to be like that. Just lay there and and do nothing for an hour to sleep.

I fall asleep within 4 minutes of getting in bed most nights.

The rare exception being if I get woken during that first weird awake/asleep phase where you don't really know what state you are in it can take me up to an hour to fall asleep.

Totally depends on what's going on. If I've had no beers and am not up late, so just a normal evening, I'd say 10 minutes. I am a very light sleeper though and don't require a ton of sleep.

Falling asleep while driving or during an activity such as waiting in an elevator is not normal. You need to control yourself better.

When I was in my lower 20's, I could fall asleep while standing, immediately upon laying down, or by my third or fourth breath after laying my head on the pillow.

Since then, going sleepless for three days while studying in school has lost the importance of a set sleep schedule for my body's rhythms. If I think about the stressors in my life after having lain down to sleep, I can toss and turn for several hours without sleep. It is really an awful experience to lay awake all night.

well its not at night as i go to sleep at 9-10am but it usually takes me less than 5 min, smoking a joint a hour before helps.

But you don't know how tired I become when I am in a car or waiting in an elevator. Just so tired. Even know typing on here I am very sleepy. Always sleepy.

I started a thread about this like 4 months ago....

Head to pillow and I'm usually out.

Something like 20sec to 2min. I've been in bed with chicks, and they tell me that I'll fall asleep mid-sentence. If I'm awake more then 10 minutes in bed, then it's not bedtime and I get up again.

When I was in high school, I remeber being in bed for hours waiting to fall asleep. That ended one summer of undergrad when I was working an internship during the day and then working the doors at a club from 7PM until 2am. We'd then help clean the place up for another 30 mintes before clocking out.

Once the manager figured out that I can count and stuff, she have me do the registers and money drop.

I'd sleep from 3 or 4am until 7am. Work from 8am until 5PM. Sleep an hour before the night job, and then repeat. It was a great summer. It was the summer when I stopped sleeping.

It takes me about 5-10 mins to fall asleep. It think that's because I stay up quite late and wake up quite early. 😛

Pain doesn't usually keep me awake, but it can wake me up early in the morning which is annoying. I don't normally take pain pills except before Kendo, but sometimes I need them at night.
