I have a Western Digital 1200JB on it's way and I'm wondering how long it will take to format it in 1 big partition ?

If it's a brand new HD with nothing on it you should just quick format, shouldn't take more than 2 or 3 min.

nah not an hour, maybe 30 minutes. my 60 gig drive takes rougly 15 minutes to 20 minutes or so. so yeah 30-40 mins probably.

exactly using the wd floppy😉

If you format in Windows NT (any version) it should be only a couple if minutes. In real DOS it would take probably an hour (I think).

Just don't choose the write zeros to disk, as I had to do once. Took 4 hours for a 40gb drive, so you can imagine how long it'd take on a 100-120gb drive...

Ummm... why would you want to zero fill a brand new drive? There's no data on there to erase. Just do a quick format and be done with it in less than 2 minutes.
