How long do you think I can go without doing anything before getting fired?

I never once defended the father that killed his kids. I was making a point about the attitude of the OP, and to do so I cleverly disguised my intentions in devil's advocacy without having to make my opinion on the specific matter known. I very purposely did not comment on the matter itself.

That however was a broader point about the nature of right and wrong. This issue has a narrow focus, and I do indeed have a moral value system based on efficiency. To me life is work, and all people have a social responsibility to work to the best of their ability, so to me going around bragging about how lazy you are is pretty pathetic. What irks me more is that such a high percentage of replies are supportive.

Ever think about a world where no one works?

MAN FUCK THIS SHIT.

I had a whoppign 1.5 hours of work today. Until 5:55, where he gives me a stack of papers and instructions.

You're stealing. Congratulations! I don't know whether it's your smugness about it, or the complicit attitudes of the other degenerates in this thread bother me more.

Seriously do this country a favor and kill yourselves. You're dead weight.

WAIT, are you posting this strongly held opinion form . . . work?

Welcome to America! Our country was founded on doing little while appearing to do much and this mentality is rampant in our society today.

Uh...the country was not founded by the Boomers.

Some people just know how to make an art out of doing nothing. Take this for an example...

We have a manufacturer service rep in our office who's only job is to fix broken servers. He works about 45 hours a week, and out of that he might spend 6 hours a week actually fixing broken servers. The rest of the time he spends sitting in the operations center watching TV, talking to people, and ordering lunch for everyone. Hey, at least he's useful for something 🙂 From what I've heard, he gets a great salary, company car, full benefits package, and two weeks of company training in Florida or California. All that just for watching TV most of the time.

When asked about his workload, he says "Hey... they don't pay me for what I do, they pay me for what I know HOW to do when things break". Honestly, the servers don't look much more complicated than a normal PC, but I guess that the manufacturer will void their warranty if one of the regular IT guys work on it and screw something up. He's been there for years, and probably will be there until their contract ends.

What can I say... nice work if you can get it!

That's absolutely true. my boss has told me he's fine paying me to sit around when I have things running perfectly and no one is yelling at him. As long as I'm available to fix things when they do go wrong, he doesn't have a problem.

Start a fight club. If your boss ever tries to fire you, fake a fight with him and blackmail.
Or fill his monitor with napalm.

Or bang his wife. And then tell him it was Tyler's doing, and that you are jack's gross incompetence.

Sorry guys, I definitely should have used my <sarcasm></sarcasm> tag.

It should read this
<sarcasm>Welcome to America! Our country was founded on doing little while appearing to do much</sarcasm> and this mentality is rampant in our society today.

You sir have replaced Teddy Roosevelt as my hero. I salute you.

I'll be working 6 hours today, and I suspect half of it will be spent Neffing and playing Ikariam. The other half will be spent studying.

Oh wait, it's a work-study job in a basement of a building in a card-access only computer lab. Right.

Doing nothing at work blows. The days just drag by. I have days where I dont have alot to do, and they suck. Neffing for 8 hours gets pretty old.
