Am I missing something here? What makes this the least bit entertaining? Would you all get a big charge out of someone committing insurance fraud or embezzling from their employer? Is it the complete lack of personal pride or any sort of ethics that make it so thrilling? Or is it the passive aggressive aspect that rings your bell? I really don't get it, and I really am trying to understand what makes this so much fun.

Because we have a sense of humor?

i just don't see how screwing poeple over is funny.

Most humour is at someones expense.

sure. i make fun of someone if they fall on a patch of ice (after i make sure they arent hurt), i laugh at soemone wearing dragon shirts etc.

But that is a huge diffrence then what BigTogue is doing. he is screwing over the people waiting for the report (wich effects there job), he is screwing over his employer etc.

i just hope this comes back to get him someday. Karma is a bitch..

As any business would say to him:

"It's just business, it's nothing personal."

I wouldn't do it myself, It'd drive me batty, but I'm not going to hate on someone just for doing nothing.

*Update April 17, 2008*

I just got another email, this time from my boss...

[my name]

Please send whatever you have done of your initial to [senior] - she will provide direction on what to address with the psychiatrist once consent received.

Update on the file you were waiting to hear back from adjuster?

Your file status for the JSTP has been done?

Please advise

[the boss]

My boss doesn't sound too worried, but the frequency of contact with this person has gone up quite a bit in the last couple of days.

I decided to do the report last night (only took me like 4 hours), although I haven't submitted it yet. I don't wanna screw anyone over. If I get canned, the work is still done.

Should I just submit? When I do, I 'll probably have to change the title of the thread and I'll just become another lazy employee that only does enough to not get fired...

It depends. Your thread title only said how long do people think you can last without doing work. You don't have to get fired, you can simply admit that after 14 days, you had to do work to keep your job.

I vote for getting your shit done.

The key issue is that do you want/ready to look for another job or just see how far you can push the limits?

If you hand in the report you've definitely bought yourself another 4-6 weeks so I say hand in the report. If the report becomes the only deliverable you end up submitting they paid a hefty price for it!

now to really push the limits, see how often you can pull this routine before you really get into hot water.

If you can get paid to sit there and do nearly nothing for the foreseeable future and still technically accomplish the work you are assigned I'd just take the check and not say anything.

Hell, you could do an entirely separate job while you're sitting there and get a 2nd paycheck.

Well, given that I don't have another job lined up, it's probably in my best interest to keep this one :p

I was just pushing the limits, and really didn't care if I got fired in the process. It's been kinda fun.

I don't get it; I thought the point of this thread WAS to do nothing and get fired.

Congrats OP!

I basically do the bare minimum to not get fired or get in trouble (ie, being told my numbers are low). I could exceed what I do, but in the past when I did I got nothing out of it. For some reason, those with worse numbers than mine, got bonuses and I didn't. So, fuck em. I need my job, so I will continue to perform, however I am not trying to do anything more than the bare minimum to stay out of trouble.

Most of my time is spent messing around online (posting here or playing ikariam).
Eventually I am going to get bored with screwing around all day and have to get a new job. I've been here 7 years now and the last 3 have consisted of the bare minimum to stay employed with "meets expectations" on my year end review.
I'd say I work about 2 of the 7.5 hours I am here.

I'm amazed, how defective does a company have to be to not notice the lack of any work whatsoever for a whole month? I can't even comprehend the circumstances that could create such an opportunity. What do you people do? Or don't do for that matter?

Didn't you have more than one report to file?

Probably

You were also assigned an internal service request from [name] to do a 4 week JSTP at the office - Please advise as to how this is going and what has been accomplished thus far.

You were assigned a new referral on April 9th - please advise whether you've connected with the referral source and claimant to start services?

I say your "experiment" ends when you turn in these two.
