I've decided to quit my job. I called my boss and there was no answer, so I had to leave a message asking her to call me back when she had a chance.

Seems ironic somehow...

I'll find it amusing if they give you some line about how you're an important member of the team and they hate to lose you.

If they offer a raise to keep him I'll scream. :p

*Update April 25, 2008*

So I talked with my boss and she was understanding that I didn't enjoy the work I was doing.

Anyway, long story short, she says I'm not permitted to quit until the report I do is done to their satisfaction. (I need to make a few edits to it)

How long do you think I can drag that out? :p

You are not permitted to quit???!?!? WTF. They can't stop you from quitting. Although, getting paid for a couple more weeks would be nice.....

Awesome, they're punishing you by making you work there longer. I don't know if they're stupid or really smart.

It just occurred to me that maybe the only reason they are doing that is so they can hire a replacement first.

This is probably true. If I was the OP, I would just stop going and see how long they would keep paying.

OP - Forward your desk phone to your cell phone, leave your computer on, but locked... I bet you can go weeks.

George: "But I proved it!"
Maura: "I refuse to give up on this relationship. It's like launching missiles from a submarine. Both of use have to turn our keys."
George: "Well, then, I am gonna have to ask you to turn your key."
Maura: "I'm sorry, George, I can't do that."
George: "Turn your key, Maura. Turn your key!"

How awesome will it be (for everyone except the OP) if they press charges of some sort?

What would the charge be?

I'm also

That said, I'm also leaving on relatively good terms with my boss, so I don't see that happening even if it was somehow possible to charge me for something. (what could they posssibly charge me with?)

Its not illegal to be a incompetent or lazy employee, crap there would be no one left where I work if that was the case.

I would rather quit and leave in good terms with your boss. This will affect you in the future if you get fired. You might not even know it. Esp if you think about applying for any government agencies. They will question you like crazy.
