It's all in your head, you don't have to be a habit partaker right now if you don't want to be.

Eh, the real answer is 3 weeks -

I heard it takes 3 weeks to break a habit, and 1 week to start one. If you get to that point where you arent craving it anymore - Id say youre on the right track.

I've heard 30 days to make / break a habit..but I dunno.

I am going to really give this a go this time. Its been 2 days now and I am good except for when I first get in the car...

Whats that website about being able to do things without smoking?

If we're talking about quitting smoking, it has nothing to do with time. It's about your attitude. You no longer smoke when you change from "giving it a go" to "I don't smoke anymore", and mean it, and do whatever is necessary to make it happen. "Giving it a go" will not get the job done, not with nicotine addiction.

I go with the theory that I can't predict the future. I know that I don't want to smoke anymore. I also know that I don't NEED to smoke ever again in my whole life. I also know that just one smoke will start the cycle over again.

Just don't fall victim to thinking you can smoke just one and get away with it. I have a coworker who's tried to quit at least 5 times since I started and actually went a few months one time. However, she always goes back to it. I have another coworker who quite 6-7 months ago with the gum, but now she can't quit the gum.

As far as time not being a factor, my dad quit for 15 years and started again, and he's been smoking for the past 15 years or so, so the addiction can easily be revisited if you don't completely avoid the stuff.

hang on for another week and it will start getting easier. I quit June 12th anf haven't touched one since. I have reached the point where I don't crave it at all and rarely think about smoking now. If you can't quite shake it look into chantix. That is probably the most effective quit smoking aid available if you can deal with the side effects.

I'm on crazy pills so chantix and me don't get along. Almost nine days now!

Thx for the support

NSFW - I quit today :) Things went pretty good.

I know it sounds cheesy and I don't know what your faith is, but it helps me to pray whenever I get really bad cravings. YMMV though :)
