I have a friend who claims she can quit no problem - no withdrawal or anything, she says. She goes a couple months at a time without smoking and it's no problem, then she just feels like smoking again and she buys a pack. It seems it's more of a habit for her than an actual addiction.

Well, I would think that the physical addiction would be gone after a few months, but the psychological addiction would still be there.

If someone claims they can do something and doesn't do it, then I call shens on their claim. There are many people out there who've quit smoking for months at a time but go right back to it. I wouldn't consider those people as having the ability to "quit no problem."
