How long do those little frogs in plastic cubes live?

My daughter (now 7) has taken care of a little 1" aquatic frog that lives in a 5x5x5 inch cube of water for two years now.

She has taken full care of it, except for about every six months or so I have changed its water.

I'm very proud of my daughter for keeping it alive for so long.

But how long can these little frogs live?

i'd guess around 5-7 years. my friend has a ~20gal tank with couple of newts, salamander, and a frog. The salamander's been there for 4+ years!

Amazing, I never thought those things could last that long. I thought it would last about as long as those carnival gold fishes... a week.

I want to see this frog in a plastic cube of which you speak.

EDIT: HOLY FREAKIN' CRAP! Seeing that box just spurred a memory I had completely forgotten! My mom got me one of those when I was 4. It was a 'learning project' because I had to learn how to read the instructions to learn about the frog. It was really neat.

The first frog (it comes with a free tadpole certificate) came dead in the mail, and I cried for a long time. Then, my mom called in and they sent us another frog. I kept it alive for about 6 months. It grew into a neat, but very tiny little frog. I think I overfed it one day and it died. So I cried again.

Way better than Sea Monkeys, IMO.

i have heard stories about a friend of a friend keeping a seamonkey alive for quite a few years... he was trying to kill it off, but it just wouldn't die

lol man thats funny.

Grow a frog kid and grow a sea monkey kit. hehehe.

Congrats on your daughter keeping it alive.

btw what do you feed it since it isn't out to catch its own food?

i had one of those frogs, mine only lasted about 1~2 months though... congrats to your daughter for keeping hers alive so long🙂

Mosquito larvae AKA bloodworms.

I've never tried to keep one of those frogs alive, but I've kept a German shepherd alive for almost 4 years now locked in a doghouse that's probably about a 4-5' cube.
