I don't look at my phone until I am driving to work, which is generally about 20 mintues after I get up. Then at the first red light, I will flip through my emails to see if there is anything that needs my immediate attention when I get to the office.

Stupid Android and WP7 don't have blinking lights. I don't know why they don't have this feature... The only thing BB still has going for it IMO.

I'm pretty sure every single Android phone has a blinking light. I'm pretty sure it's only iPhones that don't have an indicator light.

My i7500 had a light, but it wouldn't blink. Pretty sure Samsung never implemented that feature.

Within seconds. Phone is alarm, so check mail if light is blinking or I look at it after shutting off alarm and see the mail icon. I check it any time I happen to wake up through the night also.

Phone is alarm, alarm goes off at 7 and Tasker turns on syncing at the same time so I'll check emails then.

My phone is my alarm clock. So within seconds. Then I refresh my email and hit the shower.

When I get to work, about 2 hours after waking up (not my personal computer obviously). Weekends, usually as soon as I get up.

First thing. Download my digital newspapers and then check my email and Facebook. Then I go clean myself up and try to put some kind of breakfast/lunch together. :p

I check work email first thing and check the daily metrics report and the cash balances. Then I check my stock portfolio. Then I play with the kids. Then I work out.

My phone ringer is on all night and next to the bed because of work and I'm a light sleeper so I'd never sleep through a call or message. So my routine is wake up, shower, get my daughter ready for the day, give the wife a slap on the ass as she walks out the door for work, make me some breakfast and then plop down and catch up on work emails.

It's probably 45 minutes after waking up.

I am wondering how many ppl's above email is direct rather than spam and forum updates :)

I usually check email and my phone within the first 15 mins of waking up. I don't go through everything though, only things important. I usually end up just deleting all forum responses and the like without even looking unless it's my own topic.

I don't have a smartphone because data plans are overpriced. I check my email when I get home from work in the evening.

Since my phone is my alarm like others, it gets checked first thing. Basically make sure that the nightly processes runs for a couple of my private clients and then check that nothing at work blew up.

Phone is my alarm and I then take it with me into the bathroom with me where I check through emails/news, etc.

I brush my teeth, take a piss, put the coffee on, make my son breakfast, feed the cat, and then I check the computer while I enjoy my coffee.

This is pretty much my morning ritual and I almost never deviate from it...well, sometimes I don't feed the cat. And this morning I sat and watched Looney Tunes with my son before checking the computer.

My phone is one of my morning alarms; I browse all of the mail that I've received overnight immediately after dismissing the alarm. I usually don't actually read them, just scan them for anything important that didn't trigger an alarm to wake me up. I'm out the door about 30 mins after I wake up. I don't log into any of my PCs until after I'm at work, unless something requires my immediate attention.

Oh, and I don't understand the notification light fascination. The only time that my phone is not physically attached to me is when I'm asleep or showering. I check for messages immediately after those activities, and am instantly alerted via sound or vibration otherwise. I don't understand its usefulness.

Wake up at 530, PT until 730, shower, change, probably don't check my stuff until 900.

Immediately. My phone is my alarm, so the first thing I do every morning is hit snooze on it.

My alarm clock is also my phone charger/dock, so I generally check it. See how the various games played out the previous day, and if anything important was sent overnight.
