For me it's pretty much a routine that within 5 seconds of my alarm going off I turn on my laptop and check my iphone for new emails. Of course it's the last thing I do before bed too.

I use my phone as my alarm clock, so when I lean over to turn off the alarm, I quickly check emails and text messages.

Then I'll spend 10-15 minutes doing the morning rounds on my computer. Blogs, local news, torrent sites. Then get dressed.

So, it's pretty much the first thing I do, given that I don't snooze.

I wake up, turn on computer, take a piss, get a glass of juice, then go to the computer.

I'll load up the browser and check my email and launch Eve to adjust my buy/sell orders.

Right after I turn off the alarm clock. I don't currently have or need a smartphone/cellphone.

My phone is my alarm, so I check my email/texts immediately. I don't always turn my computer on, though.

Within a few seconds. I sleep with the computer on, and the keyboard/trackball on my bed.

I used to check within seconds, now I sometimes forget to bring it with me in the morning.

It's amazing how much time and energy constantly checking your email, voicemail, facebook, twitter, and whatever can take up.

Actually having a smartphone saves the energy it takes to check email since you are notified whenever it comes in rather than needing to check a computer X number of times per day.

Within half an hour.
I try to take a dump first and thats a good 15 minutes at least.

Then I have a glass of water (at least). Sometimes I have a little breakfast. Sometimes I watch the sunrise (in honor of our friend). Then I check emails and such. Then I play a round of something, Jets N Guns, Solitaire, Bloons, whatever.

I check my phone for email and text messages within 5 minutes of waking up. I don't turn on my laptop or desktop until I get to work though. On a weekend it can be a couple hours before I get on a computer.

I save most of that for downtime at work. When I wake up and check my email, I mostly skim the inbox to see if there's anything important. Facebook/Twitter/Email mostly waits for downtime at work.

Depends on if the light is blinking on the phone or not, and whether I notice the light blinking. Sometimes right away, other times hours.

Stupid Android and WP7 don't have blinking lights. I don't know why they don't have this feature... The only thing BB still has going for it IMO.

I usually sleep at my desk chair, so as soon as I wake up and can get the arm up to the mouse to wake-up the computer.

...so about 20 seconds.
