A cartoon drawing of a monkey that was shot twice begs to differ.

The Cartoon > Your comprehension skills > Your sense of humor.

Do you have any idea how much I'd rather be playing Empire: Total War rather than responding to this inane thread from work?

Play with your new frigate, little boy!

have you ever been the only white dude in a room full of black people?
i have..its uncomfortable to say the least and i imagine the reverse is true as well.

I have too...I have been a room full of afhanis, and tbh, it wasn't uncomfortable at all.

And black people too...
I imagine I would not be uncomfortable in a room full of black people. I think I would be uncomfortable in a room full of thugs, though (or what Chris Rock likes to call them).

Do minorities think that calling all non-minorities racists for every little stupid thing will make people more or less conscious of the difference in the color of our skin? Will it make non-minorities more likely or less likely to want to be around said minorities?

Come down off your soapbox, it's hurting my neck to look up while shouting to you.

He felt it as racism. IF you can't understand why he might make this mistake and go from there, you need to step out of your own personal ghetto of cultural ignorance.

IOW, the only thing more pathetic than a black guy needlessly complaining about racism is a white/azn needlessly complaining about a black guy misunderstanding a situation as racist.

But there are people who make it their life's work to "misunderstand situations as racist". THOSE are the people that are setting back all the good work we have seen in our lifetime to eliminate racism and THOSE are the people to whom I direct my comments.

Combating racism with racism is a lose-lose proposition.

MotionMan

Do0d, I asked you nicely to come down off of that laughably pompous soapbox of yours. You're risking a splinter! 😛

Do you deny that there are certain minority individuals who look for racism even where there is none?

As mentioned above, the "Black Hole" incident, for example.

MotionMan

Ask him how he feels being called Cleveland is racism.

What if he was called Urkel? Will Smith? Barack Obama?

I can see it being insulting but not racist. 😕

What if I call a Chinese guy William Hung? Am I being a racist?

I guess, once you run out of anything useful to argue, since you know you have lost, you resort to name-calling and diversion tactics.

Who is the whiny bitch now?

Yes, I would definitely be uncomfortable. But then again, so would anyone who has any real self respect (and some spare change).

It's racist because he prescribed a fictional character to a person, why didn't you just say 'you know Sambo', same thing... trivializes/characters their humanity.

You're much better off to use a descriptive term .... the black guy whats his name?

Let's see if we can drag this discussion back out of the gutter:

Do you deny or admit that there are minorities, including some very well-known public activists, who look for racism even where there is none?

There is nothing derogatory about it if the resemblance is genuine and the character being compared is not unsavory (I assume that's not the case here). It's actually more efficient to use a character that everyone is familiar with as that will carry with it a whole range of attributes that they can use to identify the person you're talking about. It also works if they act in a way that's markedly similar to a character.

People used to call me "Kramer" because I had the habit of sort of bursting into rooms unannounced, having unkempt hair, and generally acting weird. I look nothing like the character from Seinfeld, but everyone agreed that the comparison was accurate. I'll bet that you have a very good picture in your mind of the kind of person I am just because I told you that. See how that works?

I've been the only white guy in a work place full of black people and mexicans. They would say stuff but I wouldn't care. I think people just look for an excuse to call others racist. I never felt uncomfortable cus I didn't really care that they were black or white or mexican. I have enuogh self confidence to know that I can fit in anywhere. I really dislike people like Al Sharpton who look for racism anywhere and blow things WAAAAY out of proportion.

People that knew you could get that colloquial but if some unknown in a professional training meeting called me that i'd be pissed off ( i look a bit wild too) like I said trivializes/characters their humanity and is unprofessional. This is not a frat house.

Edit : not sales but training...

I already answered you, you unbelievable retard:

Of course, there are some, just like there are punk ass, pussified whiny little bitches, peeing themselves and crying like a retarded schoolgirl over far, far less significant things right here on this forum . . .

Do you deny that you're a whinier little bitch -- Waaah, people don't bump my FS/FT threads often enough -- than the guy in the OP that you're whining about?

So, why do you assume that the offended gentleman mentioned by the OP is not one of those people?

Does it seem reasonable to you for someone to assume that the person who mentioned "Cleveland" was being racist?

All you need to understand here is WHY he might
, and repair the unintended slight from there, is all.

Oh, so I guess we now have to know the life history of everyone we ever talk with or about to understand how they could possibly feel slighted even though nothing racist was said. Then, it's up to OP to "repair" the unintended slight? I think not. This guy might have previous experiences that shape his views, but that's not everyone else's problem. You could easily see how this guy (now with a bad attitude) is simply going to get ostracized because nobody wants to be around someone who thinks everything is racism and has a bad attitude. Then, he'll whine about getting ostracized because of racism.

I didn't. I never did.

Please find the quotes from me in this thread where I did, or man up, come back here and admit your unbelievably retarded and basic mistake.

I think clueless, self-satisified white guys who have not experienced determined, pervasive and often explicit racism themselves from cops, real estate agents, loud mouthed good ol' boys, mortgage lenders, white g/f's mommas and random other people who can and do cross the street at their approach continue to keep their collective heads up their asses when dealing with the not unreasonable continuing sensitivity of black people to race.

Yeah, it is. You are in the group who doesn't care. Sit down and have a man-to-man with him, explaining how it wasn't meant to be racist. Be prepared to hear some personal experiences from him that understandably make him thin-skinned about this shit.
