Anyone has it? Is it worth the $400? I think I might get my old phone replaced...

I got an LG 5350 the other day. I cant imagine a phone worth 3 times or so what I paid for it. For 400 bucks it had better walk the dog IMO.

The LG sucks @ss compared to the Sanyo. Its only advantage is the 3.5 megs of memory it has for games/apps/ringers/etc. I got my 3500 two weeks ago, day after it went on the shelves. I could not have made a better decision. I've been waiting for this phone since August when I found out about it. I'll elaborate more later.

No phone is worth over $100 to me. No matter how much i love gadgets, i just can't justify spending hundreds of dollars so that i can get a color screen to stare at for 5 minutes a day. If you really want to shell out $400, i suggest you take a look at some of those PDA/cell combos that have started popping up last year. At least you'll get more than a few crappy games and custom ringers for your money.

$400 buys you a lot more then color screens and games. This has a built in VGA-res camera. It takes awesome picutres for being integrated into a phone, complete with white balance adjustments, digital zoom and a short-range flash. Also, it has high speed data courtesy of next-generation networks, 3G CDMA, also known as CDMA2000. This phone can transmitt data up to 144kbps. Real world test put the actual data rate at about 70kbps. This phone is built like a rock and has awesome signal strength. My last phone was a Motorola StarTAC, also an excellent phone and this phone is even better.

FYI: rumored price drop to $320 within the next two weeks.

I've got nothing against Sanyo - they make good phones, and i've owned one before. It's just that i see absolutely no point in spending more than $100 on a phone right now. Internet on cell phones is a joke - if i want a mobile/portable internet device, i'll buy a PDA. The digital camera is useless as well - however impressive of a feature for a slim cellphone, no one who is even remotely serious about taking pictures would ever use that thing. The only feature i can think of that would make me consider paying so much for a cell is if i could use it to send/receive live video - now that would really be useful. But until then, meh. The Kyocera phone is more like it - Palm 4 is pretty impressive, and the MP3 player can be pretty useful as well, depending on the person. Still doesn't cut it for me though, i only listen to music at home or in the car, and both have audio systems far superior to a tiny mp3 player and a set of in-ear headphones.

My problem with the Kyocera phone is how are you going to use the screen? Its gonna be tiny compared to a regular palm, even if it is the same resolution. I could possibly see getting a Treo since that has a nice large screen and a thumbpad.

Oh yeah, the internet access isn't restricted to the phone, there's always a data cable available. I'm now working on interfacing in to my palm like I had before with the Moto. My problem this time is a USB cable on the phone and my first-gen palm that might or might not like the USB.

I agree the phone is a bit much for most, but the A500 was $300 and didn't have nearly as many features as the 3500 nor is it as good a phone and it sold like wildfire. It still does. I agree that for the purposes of a phone the Sanyo 4900 is perfectly adequate and does an excellent job.

How is the size and weight of the 5300? I want a phone that's not heavy or bulky, so PDA phones are out of the question.

Nah, i'm into fliphones now. They're tiny and don't require a case to keep the screen from getting scratched. I'm using the Kyo 5135 now and it gets the job done pretty well, especially since i only paid $30USD for it :D

5300 is rather large for a flip. Its smaller then the Moto i90/i95cl Nextel phones and lighter. I'd say its a good size. I suggest you go look at it in the store b4 you buy. The size of the phone is 3.7" x 1.9" x 1.1". It comes with two batteries in the box, extended and regular/slim. The slim battery is flush to the back of the phone, the extended has a hump. The holster, not included, accomodates both.

Well I'll level with you. I didn't pay $400 for my phone. I worked a deal and got it for $250; $100 service credit from Sprint and a $50 rebate. Granted, I was ready and willing to shell out $400 for the phone. The savings just sweetened the deal. For comparison, the StarTAC I bought two years ago was marked $240 on the shelf. There was $70 in rebates and a month later the price dropped to $150 so I got a pricematch. Again, I was perfectly willing to pay the $240 for the phone since I knew I was getting what I was paying for.
