I just upgraded to a Gainward Ti4400 and it's on par with my last Gainward Ti200 card, nice 2D.

3Dmark2001 runs fine by itself. Coolbits gives me the same reading that RivaTuner does. I will try some games and see if I get errors.

Metalloid15,
I've been experience the same problem. 3Dmark2001se crashes and hard locks my system with a long beep. What I've found out is that the Geforce 4 Ti 4400s are very sensitive to overclocking, specifically running your PCI (33mhz) and AGP (66mhz) out of spec. So far I have purchased the ATI 8500, Visiontek Ti 4400, and PNY Ti 4400. I could run my ATI 8500 with my memory running at 144 x 2 (DDR), which makes my cpu run at 2303 mhz with complete stability . On Thursday I received my Visiontek Ti 4400 and have had nothing but problems. First, when my system boots up my screen flickers like a strobe light until I get into windows and then it stops. Then when I tried to run 3dmark2001se, with my cpu running at 2303 mhz, I had major problems exactly like you. I was finally able to get back into my CMOS after pulling my memory and reseating it. I started to think I had a bad card. So, I purchased a PNY Ti 4400 and it performed exactly like the Visiontek. As long as I keep my PCI at 33 mhz and AGP at 66 mhz, I run completely stable. If I go a few mhz higher I get major hard locks and have one hell of a time getting my system back up (i.e. I get no signal to my monitor and get several continuous beeps). So, try running 3dmark2001 with your system not overclocked and let me know how it goes. Also, here are my takes on the ATI 8500 and the Geforce 4s. The 8500 has better 2D image quality, but not by much. I think the Geforce 4 has excellent 2D. The 8500 takes huge performance hits when using AA, which sucks because I'm use to running 2x with my old and VERY reliable Voodoo 5. IMHO I think the Geforce 4 has slightly better 3D image quality than the 8500 and love the fact that I can run 2x AA with almost no performance hit, but this crap with PCI and AGP out of spec is really starting to make me rethink about keeping the 8500. The Geforce 4 is the only card I've owned that has this issue. I'm still trying to figure this out. Anyway let me know if that helped.

<< Sure, heaven forbid you do some research. >>

OK jaeger66- maybe you should.
Nice links btw. Got anything to Geforce4 cards.

<< FYI, the difference is in the low pass filers. Leadtek and Gainward use high quality ones, many others do not. In the future, do your homework before spouting off. >>

Why don't YOU do your homework first before spouting off. Do you have any proof that any current brand of Geforce 4 has better image quality besides word of mouth.

I have yet to hear any reviewer comment on bad image quality from any Geforce 4.
Except a few stupid comments from end users on forums.

If there really was a bad image quality problem, it would have been mentioned a while back by everyone.

Metalloid15- stop using RivaTuner. You should have done a fresh install and not installed that.

What should I use instead of RivaTuner. I like it because it is very user friendly. I tried GeforceTweakUtility and didnt like it.
