Specifically their MPV :(

Yes, seriously.

I can't find good numbers. Thanks!

EDIT: 1) The manual says 87 [ (R+M/2 method] or above (91 RON or above0 It then mentions in ecuador to use 91 or 96. I think that the research method vs blah whatever, but the end result is I think this only recommends basic 87 and not premium, correct? (I know a poster below said the same, but I Have to be 100%!)

2) Carmax (not where I'm buying this) did a VIN check and the VIN is clean. However the dealership that has had this MPV (for several months and for some reason can't seem to sell it, which is why they recently discounted it) never titled the car. The guy at carmax thought this was weird, but I think it's normal because a dealership would get the title and simply not bother registering it. They know it's theirs, so why bother, right? Just let the buyer do that.

Otherwise all seems well. It was a rental, but most rental people have had good experiences with their cars (even if they're always ragged on when rented) and I would probably sell this before the warranty died anyway :D

*BOUGHT* We bought it. Normally car buying is fun, and this was blah simply because it's a minivan. That said I'm pretty happy about the purchase (for what it is). We got a seriously superb financing rate on it and there's tons of warranty left. Mrsskoorb likes it, so I can still drive a maxima, once I finalize which one to sell.

MPV?! Get an Odyssey and stop worrying about reliability!! :)

EDIT: to add something to the thread. Text

give it a few years and we'll know. the RX8 is quite rare, the mazda3 is new, the MPV is kinda new, and the 6 has been out only a couple of years. no major recalls is a good sign.

Seriously. The Odyseey is the BEST minivan out there bar none....and besides....Mazda is owned by Ford Motor Company...not that it doesn't change quality but....ahh...nevermind....GET A HONDA ODYSSEY or TOYOTA SIENNA.

I think the current model MPV has been out since 2000.

Odyseey and Mazda are in wildly different price clases and not comporable or applicable for this.

also look at the problems themselves, how much does it cost to fix, how often, and does it leave you stranded on the side of the highway

Your favorite Nissan is better by one step on that list.

Mixed reviews available here I pulled up 2003, as it's a couple years old. Appears to have some chronic transmission issue, but that could have been fixed in the newer model.

Well I owned a 1989 Mazda mpv with the v6.
It got about 200K before I traded it in for my subaru.

There were a bunch of problems with the vehicle, but that is to be expected with any vehicle on the road.
That being said, it never once left me stranded and I didnt have to put a dollar into it the whole time I owned it.

I hear the new ones are much better than the older models. It's a japanese vehicle, it will give you more than your dollars worth.

Not sure how comparable those two models are, but their prices are somewhat close and the Honda's 5 year ownership cost blows the Mazda out of the water

The only significant stat is in depreciation, and if he's buying a few years old...like I know Skoorb typically does, then it's a moot point and they are almost even.
