I played BF3. I enjoyed the SP campaign. Same complaints about BF4 I have for BF3.
Aside from that I am finding the whole "modern warfare" theme in FPS games to be growing stale.
I am sort of in the same boat, but I'd rather not go back to WW2 shooters. I am so tired of killing Nazis. What other eras are there? Futuristic? That is quite hard to do. Civil War period? No thanks... Korean War / Vietnam era is modern enough (and, because of BC2, holds a place in my heart), but that doesn't really distinguish itself much from modern warfare.

I could always kill more nazis, bring on WWII with Frostbite 3!

It has a learning curve and you have to get used to it. Died a lot in BC2 when i first started playing, never got into any sort of ryhtm and it wasn't very fun. After a while though, I started settling in and things got a lot better. The constant confusion (omg where are they shooting from?! *dead*) and dying stopped and I was racking up kills and it was fun.
I started BF4 recently, having not playing BC2 for a long time, and experienced the same initial pains. Maybe worse, since there is more detail on screen and finding the enemies is like finding Waldo. Going through the same process as before, getting better. I know I'm making process when I live long enough and get enough kills to run out of ammo.
All BF have been like this in my experience. Have to go through an unpleasant learning phase before things get really fun.
Thats exactly what Gen. Patton wanted to do. A game where GSP gets his way and we kick the Russians' arses while we were in the arse kicking mood would be awesome.Amen!
Somebody should come up with a WWII shooter that puts the US vs The Russians fighting over Germany. Kind of like an alternate universe type thing.
I logged over 969 hours playing BF3 but haven't touched it since BF4's release. There isnt a whole lot of difference between the two as far as gameplay, but BF4 is more polished. Things were a little wonky with the server tick rates for a while, but that was patched and now all is well, but to each their own.
There's a reason 2142 was unpopular......it sucked. BTW, isn't it the unpopular out of the norm stuff that hipsters go for? Wouldn't that make you the hipster?I swear... we have hipster video game players now. I only liked battlefield when it wasn't popular... 2142 or go home...
Yep, I should go back to my favorite stomping grounds of the Nosehair Canals and get those 29.5 hours. You have to go back and make that an even 1000.

Shoot, die, respawn, shoot, die, respawn, shoot, die, respawn, shoot, die, respawn, shoot, die, respawn, shoot, die, respawn, shoot, die, respawn. Yay! So fun!
Honestly after playing Fallout 3, every other game that has shooting mechanics in comparison just seemed too shallow and boring to play.

What. BF2 and 2142 were extremely popular.
Your point of comparison is fallout 3? Which has possibly the most simplistic gun-gameplay in any game featuring guns ever/
I mean when you put shooting alone, as in the sole thing you do in a game is run around and shoot things, I can't play that anymore.
Anyway, there's no such thing as simplistic or complex shooting, it's all the same, aim and shoot.
Which is a step down from BC2.Yea, I tried it on the free week, it's a step down from BF3.
