People forget the difference between casual gaming and 'actual' gaming.

The entire point of games like Angry Birds is something you can do on your portable device where you can pick it up at any time and put ti down at any time.

Angry Birds is a game that you do in line at the store or on the bus not sit at home playing for prolonged periods of time.

Better than a magazine when I'm taking a crap.

This. Most of these phone games are things to do while dropping a deuce or waiting around for something. I don't want or need a complicated game while taking a crap. I just want something that's quick and fun because I don't plan on spending more than 10min at a time playing it.

Actually I have played it for prolonged periods of time but the fact that it be drug into the crapper only heightens it's appeal

I've been a hardcore gamer. I found it oddly addictive. There's something satisfying about knocking 5 stones with one bird with a perfectly aimed shot.
I compulsively played the first game to three stars. Then I held back in getting the other ones since it's such a time drain.

Although I recently got introduced to a game called Dragon Fly! It's even more addictive than angry birds.

Dragon fly is a knockoff of tiny wing.
Angry birds can cause you to rage quit lol

AB is not even a good game. There's no strategy involved. It all seems pretty random. Either that or the physics suck.

There's a lot of strategy to 3 star every level. Do you try to save birds for the bonus? Or do you try to destroy as much as possible? Some of the hits have to be really accurate and the timing needed is pretty slick.

As others have said, mobile games are more like "time wasters" than actual games. It's a shame there aren't any real games being made for smartphones.

if you guys want a good crapper game try jet pack joyride. It's free and at least requires coordination/skill.

there are some good tower defense game... "tower defense" being one of them. Also Plants vs zombies.

Puzzle games like cut the rope and feed me oil are good as well.

I have to admit, I have absolutely no interest in tower defense games. They seem to be pretty popular though.

Lately I've just been playing Osmosis, as well as going for 5 stars on every track in Reckless Getaway.

Angry birds is addicting as hell.

If you want more complicated games, you can pick up cloud based versions of defense grid gold, darksiders, dirt 3, lego batman, and more at OnLive.

Works well, but I really don't like touch controls in general (for "hardcore" games). I think you can connect their universal controller to your touch device, which is 100 times better IMHO.

I loved it. But it has absolutely no replay value to me. (Going through to get all the stars on everything is boring, and the solutions I've found on youtube, etc., all rely on a hefty dose of luck, not skill or problem solving.)

It was fun for a while but I got bored because it's so trial and error based. You just keep trying to hit the blocks from different angles and see what happens.
