Actually, when I was single, a guy who owned an expensive car would have pretty much been automatically ruled out for dating. It was a sign that the guy had poor judgement where money was concerned, or was really really shallow, or both.

Are you my girlfriend, and are you confusing my Focus for a Contour?

They're free to own them for whatever reason they want, but I have/had no interest in a guy who thinks that spending that much on a vehicle is a good use of money. *shrugs* I'm sure I'm not the only person like that. Don't you ever look at someone and say to yourself that their spending habits would be a big problem in a relationship?

Sure. Like women that have 30 pairs or shoes, 10 purses, 4 coats, etc.

Everyone has different hobbies and interests. So long as the person is responsible with his/her money and covers his/her responsibilities, I don't see a problem with having some fun in one or two areas.

it's important. To them it's a means of conveyance, I'm speaking biologically, and a man who has a poor one has a bad chance of being able to provide for a family.

Well, it really depends on your definition of "good." Money will certainly get you a hot woman.

See the thing is, women value money and security, while men value beauty and youthfullness. Thus, men become more valuable to women as they age and acrew more money, while women become less valuable to men as they age and lose their beauty. The best thing a woman can do is find a man with money and trap him in a marriage.

The more money, fame and power you have, the hotter the girl you'll get.

This is all generally speaking, of course.

Doesn't that depend entirely on how much that person makes?

No, only women look at men and think that. And the reason they think that is, "If he's spending all his money on his car, how will he spend it on ME?!"

Eh? A man who drives a reliable beater with no car payment compared to a guy who drives a pimp-mobile that eats up 60% of his paycheck on a car note... which one is more able to provide for the family? Of course we're talking potential first or second impression here so I guess I can sort of see where you're coming from.

Plenty of men avoid "high maintenance" women who blow money on frivolous crap.

It's best to have a hot girlfriend to show off at events, and then a beater girlfriend to... well, beat. For all the anger the hot one causes you.

when I first starting dating, I drove an old Volare' wagon. Believe it or not, that car was a chick magnet. I had a good stereo in it and it wasn't too rusty, but its not the car; its the driver.

For more fun nights out I would drive my 1968 Buick Skylark 2 door. Fast and loud, chicks liked cool musclecars too.

For special nights out, I would borrow my dad's 1984 Caprice Classic. Fully loaded, it was nice to have a cushy car to impress their parents.

That was until I let my hair grow seriously long, showing off my heavymetal style. Chick's parents weren't fond of that.

Now I just work and then come home to take care of my handicapped father. I haven't had a date in years. Soon I will have my mopar back on the road and hopefully will start dating again after I sell this house and get another one.

Yep, sure do. That is why I'd tell you: "Piss off biotch!"

Then I'd get back in my Porsche and drive off enjoying the wind in my hair and the sound of the engine.

This isn't even necessarily true. How many posts have we seen on here where someone fresh out of college wants to buy a car costing 2x their yearly salary? It's easy to give a false initial impression of how much you make if your willing to take on a ton of debt.

So is the guy who treats his car well or the one that doesn't look after his car has the advantage here?

Damn, 2x? That's an expensive car.
