Well, it's the first time I've purchased from them, and so far, I'm not impressed. What experience have you had when you needed help or an RMA?

What problem are you having ?

I returned a 2 year old server ram that started to fail ECC... I contact the guy on the web, ran memtest and show him the results, i send back old memory and they send me new ones..

It's been over a week since I talked with Ramguy, and a week since we exchanged emails. No response.

That is understandable, that is the main reason I posted here, just to see what most people's experience has been. They have unit after Christmas to get back to me.

Nope. I haven't had time yet. I thought i'd give them a little time after the holiday to get back to me before I go making calls getting grumpy.

It must just be because of the holidays. I've had nothing but good experiences with Corsair. Kingmax on the other hand... :Disgusted;

Let me know if you don't get a reply email or phone call. Sorry for the delay, it is the holiday season but, an excuse does not solve your issue.

I got a reply, only after I made some calls. Then I had to deal with some managers one of which I didn't care for, the other ... wasn't that bad. . I'm not happy with corsair at all in regards to product, or customer service. But I am going to send my memory in, I don't have much choice, even with a refund, the cost of memory now is far higher than what I paid when I purchased the RAM.

One thing that gets me. The "Ramguy" always seems to think "something else" is the problem besides the ram. Even though the RAM has been used in 3 different motherboards, all different (MSI, Asus, EVGA) and the problem follows the ram, he still thinks "it's something else". But they setup the RMA because I am being a royal pain in the ass. (Hey, I paid damn near $300.00 for the RMA, I expect some good customer service).

Any idea why he would think it was something else? (I didn't realize you were from Corsair, edited my post to be a little more friendly)

Ramguy should be able to tell you what he thinks.

If I had some memory modules that failed, regardless of timings and voltage, Memtest86+ on 3 different boards in rigs with a decent psu and a known good cpu it should be RMA'ed without question.

Yeah, he wouldn't tell me what else it could be. I know this, that I have to declock the memory for the systems to be stable, AND when Ramguy told me to put the memory to 2.1v, the system wouldn't post. I got error codes that no memory was installed. Something is funky...

Can you link the thread from our forum so we can see what we are dealing with here?

The goal of course is not to debate or prove someone right or wrong but, to get their system up and running ASAP. During the years I have gotten to know him, RAM GUY has had me thinking the same thing you guys are, that he is incorrect on his answer or theory of the problem. However, 99.9% of the time he is either correct on his analysis and/or is correct on what the problem isn't. And.....

AND when Ramguy told me to put the memory to 2.1v, the system wouldn't post. I got error codes that no memory was installed. Something is funky...
...this specific statement does not indicate a memory issue IMO. It sounds power related based on this 1 bit of info.

And, without knowing the whole story, we don't really know if this is the case.

But, as I said, the point is not to debate but to get you working ASAP. So, let's assume for a minute that your memory is not defective. If you RMA it, get new memory, and have the same issue, then you have watsted time and money and still no working computer.

Good luck.

Yellowbeard-

There isn't really a thing on the forums. I had to post there to get an email back from Ramguy. I've been talking with John C. the tech support supervisor via email.

No debate, I'd be more than happy to try and figure this out, trust me. My machine works, as long as my memory is under clocked.

It's an EVGA 680i motherboard w/E6600 cpu, and evga 7900GT video card.
If the memory is set at 800mhz (5-5-5-12 2T 1.9v) I end up getting calculation errors in SP2004. (Super Prime). If the memory is set to 798-780, I get no errors at all. Same problem in the Asus P5B, and an MSI board that I can't remember the model number.

My friends Crucial works like a champ at 2.1v, even overclocked. I never get any type of errors is memtest. The memory is TWIN2X2048-6400 2GB Kit DDR2-800 XMS2-6400 Xtreme Performance Memory.

Need more info? Let me know.

This is just an example.

Cpu running @ 3.0gigs 1.360v
Memory @ 788mhz, 5-5-5-18

Runs under a load @ 38C, cpu core temp using intel thermal monitor is 45c.
If I move the memory up to 800, I get errors in Super Prime.

After spending some time on the Corsair forums, I'm seriously reconsidering purchasing any more of their products...

clevere1, let me know how all goes it after your RMA. Hopefully, you got a bad DIMM ( it happens, even with Corsair and every other brand) and a speedy RMA will resolve all of this. So, let me know when you get the new stuff.

tphss, what do you mean by "fried", what happened exactly? Also, you may want to start your own thread here or at the CORSAIR FORUM. Tagging your issue at the end of another thread may allow your issue to be overlooked.

My opinion is as follows; and this is coming from someone who still buys Corsair products.

They stand by their products, but they make you jump through a few hoops to get them to do so.

Having to post your issues on a public forum and relay the results of your Memtest runs, AND wait for "god" (RAMGUY) to reply to you before they'll give you an RMA # is unprofessional at best, in my opinion. I'm sure their corporate customers have a different avenue for RMA's, but "the little guy" like me, who may just have purchased a couple of thousand dollars worth of memory for my CORPORATE customers should not have to go through that BS. If a server crashes and reports a memory error, and Memtest tells me the stick is bad, I'm correct, I'm right, the stick is bad. Period. I shouldn't have to "testify" and wait for some faceless entity to reply to me. OH! I've been blessed by the RAMGUY! :Q Oh, happy day.

I've had to RMA about 25% of the Corsair products I've purchased. One stick of their "good stuff" (XMS memory), three sticks of their ValueRam (crap, IMO) and many sticks of ECC memory. Once RMA'd, my replacements were sent out quickly and all the replacement sticks worked with no issues at all.

Most of their stuff is good stuff (stay AWAY from the ValueRam line). I have some sticks of PC3200 that have been running for 5+ years now. Their customer service leaves something to be desired...though they won't be changing anything b/c a few people on some forum whined about them.
