Very difficult to be a good bartender.

Pretty easy just to get certified.

Certified? What is that. Is that that 2 week thing you see on tv commericals? Ive never met a bartender that went to one of those.

Bartending school. It's relatively easy just to go through the training and get your feet wet, but after that it's an up-hill battle.

you don't need to go to school to bartend. you just have to be good AT bartending. you need to know all the drinks by heart. need to know how to mix em, pour em, garnish em and serve em. You need to know the etiquet at certain places. AND FOR GOD'S SAKE! LEARN HOW TO CORRECTLY POUR A GUINNESS FROM THE TAP! I don't know how many times I've sent back a pint when the colors don't seperate, or the bastard behind the counter doesn't let the glass sit for a minute to let the head settle and refill before he hands it to me and looks so innocent when i give him the "wtf didn't you just do noob" look. oooooo!! PET PEEVE! //end rant

Bartending is actually pretty easy. I started bartending out of necessity when bartenders did not show up. But most of the people just order martinis or wine. On top of that most people want their martinis dry so you dont even have to use vermouth.
