Depends on the road. In residential areas, (currently 35 mph and below) I'd keep to the current limits. For rural two-lane roads I'd be somewhere in the 45-70 mph range depending on the conditions and the road. For interstates, between 75 and 100 depending on conditions.

Some facts the average person doesn't comprehend...

An average commute to work is about 15 miles.
Freeway speed limits are normally around 65mph.

If you could drive 65 the entire way to work, it would take you just under 14 minutes
If you decide to speed and drive 80, it still takes you 11.25 minutes

I don't get why people feel the need to speed so much just to save 2.5 minutes on their way to work or wherever they are going other than the adrenaline rush they maybe feel by thinkign they are so cool for driving fast....

Even if you are on a 100 mile trip, you still only save 10-15 minutes if you drive that fast the entire way, which is normally not possible.
People don't speed to save time. They speed because it's the natural speed they want to go in the conditions. If I don't constantly monitor my speed, I'll end up at 80-90 mph on the freeway. Not because I'm in a hurry or anything, but because that's the speed at which the car feels comfortable and "settled in" for me.

Depending on the road, probably about 10-20MPH higher. There's some roads that don't have posted speed limit signs because the turns won't let you get to 55 as it is.

probably like 150 km/h on the highway. Most cars can't really handle the speed past that very well either.

Stupid concept. Not even ze Germans remove speed limits on ALL roads. Only on certain sections of autobahn (interstate). Even without speed limits on interstates, I would probably continue to drive as fast as I do now: 75-85 MPH. Only different would be peace of mind. I wouldn't have to keep my eyes out for roaming revenue collectors all the time.

85-90 on the highways. The car feels most comfortable cruising @ that speed.

About the same as I do now.
When you drive super fast you kill gas mileage and you don't gain much time at all.

That few minutes saved on the typical trip is not worth the extra costs of fuel.

75-85 on interstates

I wouldn't change my driving habits on local roads.

Speed limit is 80km/h, I drive 120km/h everywhere I go...

If there were no speed limits, I would drive 120km/h... that's what I feel comfortable driving at when I'm just cruisin...

If we had major highways setup the same way as the Autobahn, I would go between 130 and 150 mph. If it were to be like the Autobahn, the roads would have to be several times thicker. The highways would need to be much smoother without a single pothole. People would also have to understand that the far left lane is for faster moving vehicles. None of that will ever happen though.

Speed limit is 70 on the interstate here... if traffic was light and weather was good I would do around 100mph. In 25mph zones i'd go maybe 30-35 and 40mph zones I would do 60mph. All depends on traffic, pedestrians, etc.

Fixed for my results.

Of course, depends on conditions, and familiarity with the area...I go a lot slower if I'm in a new area and don't know what the roads do.

On the way to work, I usually go at the speed of traffic (8 over or so). But I take a lot of long road trips, and believe me, it saves HOURS to speed.

the problem is not how fast I am going - it's whether having everyone else go as fast as they want (especially lousy drivers in f-ing huge SUVs flooring it all the time) makes it safe to drive on the road at all. I'm comfortable driving at far beyond the speed limit, but only when I have a car that car react well unde those conditions and only when there is no one else around

You can't count on anyone else to drive well.

On a clear, dry day with little to no traffic? Probably about 120 on the highway. I feel comfortable with my abilities and vehicle to do that. Visibility would determine periodic slow downs, because I'm sure there would be morons going 65 in the left lane.

I wouldn't drive for a good ~6 months as people made the roads a hazard and racked up Darwin awards. Then when they were all dead/hospitalized and I began driving again I'd go about as fast as I do now. Maybe 10mph more on highways.

If there weren't speed limits, I'd probably stay off the roads...left to my own vices, I'd probably drive on highways at 100MPH...local streets, 50-60MPH?

Faster than current speed limits, I would drive with sanity and not go faster than whats safe, I also wouldn't want to go too fast, Gas is expensive.
