Given the market conditions I might be silly enough to actually try for a $1000+ GPU; something I never thought I'd do. So, what are the chances of a real human relying on their fleshy F5 finger getting a 3080Ti? I expect that most or all of the cards are already spoken for by mining firms via backdoor deals with distributors, and the few cards that slipped through the cracks will be fought over by bots and armies of F5 fingers on release day. So, I estimate the probability of a regular gamer getting an RTX 3080Ti to be right around 0.25% chance. This takes into account the likely number of gamers vs the likely number of cards that haven't already been purchased by miners ahead of the card's release. Your thoughts?

I predict the card goes from "coming soon" straight to "out of stock" with no period of time between.

Here's all the best buy stores that are offering the 3080Ti FE.

If you don't have a store listed here you won't be able to get the card as they are not doing online, it's voucher only, in person.

None of the stores in my city are doing it and the one that is in Erie is like 3-4 hrs away.

I'm in no rush to get a 3080 Ti even though I can afford one at MSRP. I definitely won't buy one if it's above MSRP, especially that I think that even the MSRP price for the 3080 Ti is too high in my opinion and I think it should be more like $800 max for an FE edition. My gaming PC is connected to my 40" 1080P 60Hz LED TV in my bedroom and I plan to replace it with a 43" 4k 120Hz (mainly for the 5:5 pulldown for 24 fps encoded video content) LED TV later this year. The TV I want should be releasing sometime this month but I won't buy it right away as I want to read user reviews on it first. My GTX 1080 Ti is still fine for 1080p 60Hz gaming until then. However, one concern I have is if the PS5 and XBox One Series X will run games better than my gaming PC even at 1080p because those consoles have a more powerful GPU than the one in my gaming PC, not to mention that games on consoles are more optimized than PC versions of the same games, even though I have a Ryzen 5800x CPU which is more powerful than the CPUs in those two consoles. I'm not planning on buy either console and I hope it doesn't come to that point, either because lack of availability of the 3080 Ti or pricing above MSRP for the 3080 Ti, because I'm a PC gamer first.

I am queuing up for a 3080ti, at its inital going price its not much more than the inflated prices of a regular 3080, dont know why, perhaps they have a deal that some of the cards must be sold at msrp? Not getting my hopes up, but taking a shot. Then I can order the 5950 afterwards.

The sad answer is that it will sell out online instantly. If they go for sale at 12 PM, the sites will all crash (or "crash" *) and they'll all be out of stock around 12:01.

You might have a slim chance if you go in person, but why? $1,200 is too dang much for a GPU. I wouldn't waste my time unless I knew that I could scalp to someone the next day for $2,000 cash.

* I'm still convinced that some smart IT guys just tweak the firewall rules on their store sites so only the IP address ranges of their buddies can get in during those 30 seconds that things are actually in stock. Prove me wrong!

Same here but unfortunately there's no way to save your payment info in the evga website. I was able to do it on the Nvidia site by adding something to cart, then entering payment and saving it and then removing my item from cart.

Last time I tried with the 3080 release you didn't even see an add to cart button on the sites. It went from coming soon to out of stock after the sites hung.

Yup that's what happened the previous launch. And you can bet some of those going to line up tonight at best buy, will be scalpers. In a few days check eBay and see how many 3080Ti's there will be for 2-4k. You can definitely make money on them as previous market trends have shown.

I wrote a python script to buy myself a 3080 a while ago from best buy but then they implemented the queue system and which messed it up. It worked for in stock items but I fear it's too slow for actual bot farms.

I never was able to test the script against the queue system because I don't really have a way of doing so without waiting 2-3 weeks and then squander a chance at a drop to test the script rather than trying to get myself a card manually.

I figure if they never implemented the queue system I could have spun up 100 AWS EC2 instances the day of a drop with the script to try and buy myself one card since I configured it for one purchase.

I can only image the chaos of legions of scalpers lining up at Best Buy to fight each other for what will end up being thousands of dollars in profit. Who gets to decide who's first in line? They are camping there already, right? So you have a parking lot full of tents? Simply informing people that you've been there all night won't do much to dissuade the violent dude-bro who feels entitled to your spot in line. I can just imagine some a-hole showing up later and slowly trying to blend in at the front of the line, making everyone feel uncomfortable and forcing people to confront him about it, and when they do he lashes out as if he's justified in breaking civil order. How this doesn't end in fist fights and gunshots I have no idea. And yes, in my country (US) people shoot each other dead on the freeway for even being perceived as having cut the other guy off. Certainly if you don't allow the dude-bro to steal your spot in line you're obviously asking for a beating at the very least. CHAOS! CHAOS! CHAOS!

I’m good, I’m not paying $1200 for a GPU. I’ll just stick with consoles. That price is almost more than I paid for a suspension upgrade on my car. It’s just stupid now.

I mean if your suspension could mine imaginary tokens that other people would pay you $10 for on a daily basis it probably would have cost a lot more as well.

Let's just be glad no one has a made an indie game for the consoles that mines with them.

I was able to get into the evga elite memebers notification queue for a 3080ti ftw3.

After refreshing for 2 hours. Who knows if I'll get an email.

Ebay et al should be banning scalpers.
[/QUOTE]

There are way too many things that could be considered scalping to blanket ban scalping. eBay would have to selectively ban items such as cpus, gpus, consoles, etc for it to work, but like the scalpers they're in it for the money.

Yep, people stood in line at Best Buy to scalp.

There's already listings in my local OfferUp for them. One of the silly fools said he bought his from Beat Buy so he's obviously delusional asking $3200 shoot me and offer.

No I didn't typo Best Buy as Beat Buy....lol

I didn't expect anything else honestly. People started lining up at best buy last night in the rain. Whether those sell on EBay or not, we will see. I am betting they will.

Also I love how the guy put his receipt in the picture. Showing how much he paid with tax and all. Then he lists it on eBay for $3k!

My nephew got one after waiting in line since 5:30 pm yesterday. After I opened my big mouth, he plans on selling it now. I thought I raised him better than that.

Ebay is absolutely flooded with them, mostly founders edition. $3000...holy crap. I can't imagine the risk being worth it to a miner at this point. That's a gamble right now. Of course, gaming and gamers have nothing to do with any of these products anymore. Maybe in the years to come gamers will be relevant again.

$3000 is the 3090 price these days. Why would anyone buy a 3080ti for the same price? I wonder if they are actually selling.

It is very annoying the lack of high end cards the past year. I can wait a bit longer, but want one for the new Battlefield. I don't put it past them to be intentionally holding back cards.

They aren't holding back. Gaming revenue last quarter was up 106% from the previous year.

I don't know if they're holding back cards on purpose. I imagine they want to sell as many as possible. It's hard for gamers to get cards when miners buy 100x more cards than gamers and they're willing to pay 3x the price as gamers. It's impossible to imagine any other outcome. You can take the same rules and apply them to any scenario and you'll get the same outcome. For instance, Imagine a little girl has a lemonade stand and sells lemonade for $0.25 per cup to her thirsty friends. All of a sudden, some big, fat, evil, rich miner comes along, sells his own children and his house for lemonade money and offers the girl $1000.00 per cup and says he'll buy it all right now. See? Same rules, different story, same ending.

Wanna see a bunch of scalpers freak out to be first in line at MicroCenter for the 3080Ti launch? Tell me these are gamers and not scalpers. Guhead, tell me. A 3080Ti is like a free check for $2000.

OMG! His shirt says CHAOS CHAOS CHAOS! I TOLD you guys.
