6-8 minutes is a pretty good target range to get into.

5:21 once after basic training

But I've been training for a marathon for the past few months so now I'm slow and broken....Maybe...6:30 or so

It was mandatory back in high school PE. I ran it in about 6 and a half minutes... 6:34 I think. I had made a bet prior with a friend on who could run it the fastest. We ran at the same time and I won by 2 seconds.

my best was 6:14, but our mile run at school was uphill, downhill, and over the occasional soft patch

my fastest timed mile was back in high school, and it was around the 7 minute mark. HOWEVER, this was at 9000 feet above sea level, and our track had right-angle corners which SUCKED.

like most others that have posted, im around the average at 7 minutes when i was in shape and i dont run anymore. if i tried, id probably be in the 8 range to 9 maybe even. i never was a runner. but i think i might even be faster getting into 6 range because im a very avid biker now.

well, in cross country races, my 2 mile split was sometimes around 10:30, so that is 5:15 each. Take away the hills and the 2 miles I was running after that 5:15, somewhere around a 4:45 ish

I can run a mile in 5 minutes. I average 8 minute miles when I run half marathons and I have managed averaging just over 9 minute miles when running a marathon.

Nah, the mile is considered mid-distance, along with the 800. 400 and below are sprints; the mile is definitely more of an aerobic run than a sprint.

As for me, my best was 5:07 in high school; my goal for this year is 4:50.
