besides the biggest part of the "iraqi resistance" are not even iraqi's, and have not been for quite some time. and most of the fighting is in the "sunni triangle" by the minority that formerly ruled the majority.

china isnt very fond of nk. if there was a serious threat of invasion by the US, i have a feeling china would find a way to either oust Kim or somehow disarm the situation. the last thing they want is an invasion-sized military force right next to their border... especially a US one.

communist china largely owes it's existance to north korea. they remember this, and it was a big part of the reason why china actively participated on the side of NK in the last korean war with over a million troops they were going to send more until truman said he would nuke them if they did.

it is true they are a little wary of kim, but they are more scared of us than NK and regard us as much much more of a threat.

Reinstate draft bill # S.89

Sponsor: Ernest Hollings (D-SC)

Universal National Service Act of 2003 - Declares that it is the obligation of every U.S. citizen, and every other person residing in the United States, between the ages of 18 and 26 to perform a two-year period of national service, unless exempted, either as a member of an active or reserve component of the armed forces or in a civilian capacity that promotes national defense. Requires induction into national service by the President. Sets forth provisions governing: (1) induction deferments, postponements, and exemptions, including exemption of a conscientious objector from military service that includes combatant training; and (2) discharge following national service.
Amends the Military Selective Service Act to authorize the military registration of females.

Well Well Well, the AT Experts in Economics and Politics just never seem to be able to read and pay attention or comprehend. Funny how this morning on USA Today News this very Bill comes up as a Headline.

Well...well..well...It will once again not see the light of day, let alone pass. But on the off chance that hell freezes over and one of the 9 dwarves wins the election...then I guess this might happen too.

Exactly why they wouldnt let the situation escalate to the point of a US military buildup/invasion... :p

There can be no doubt that one of the nine will win... but, hell freezing... now that is another matter all to gether (split apart). I still maintain the draft exists today. That the bill just changes the provisions of it. If we have a crisis we will by lottery fill the needs of the military.
Keep an eye open for a government type letter, all you youngins... I heard a rumor on AT that stuff was a happening..

What's your point? Who really cares about this bill anyways? It won't get anywhere. So what if I didn't see it in one of the many posts you make in one of the threads you start that has 100's of posts in it. At least you were nice enough to repost it, but still so immature that you had to take a cheap shot at everbody because they didn't see a piece of news that you did.

they did not take that route the last time, plus like last time they may not have a choice. NK is much more valuable to them as an ally instead of an enemy, especially nuclear armed(either way, friend or foe).

if the chinese massed troops along the yalu river to invade NK, what do you think kim would do?

Funny how these Bills that the AT Experts continually say will never "get anywhere" get passed and become a nightmare in reality.

When a Bill seems to be killed in one form they regurgitate it with a different name but same bill and they pass it right under everyone's noses. Now that's a cheap shot and they do it everyday.

Hey Dave, why don't you try thinking for yourself for a change. Do you honestly think a bill that mandates two years of military service will ever get through both houses of Congress? Do you honestly think that the citizens of our nation will support this? Just because a bill gets written by somebody doesn't mean it will actually be supported and gain momentum.

exactly my point. Kim is a loose-cannon... he's not just anti-US, he's anti-"anyone telling him what to do". he's unpredictable.
