not until after the 04 election. but id say soon after. ive been hearing more and more rumors about an upcoming draft.
Well that's all the proof I need. Noob says he hears rumors it must be a done deal.

I wasnt arguing with anyone that a draft is imminent, merely stating what ive heard. So kindly keep your inarticulate, crackheaded arguments in the confines of your own basement, and refrain from spewing them across the internet. Thanks.

Considering the pentagon/congress has not even increased the authorized troop numbers, i dont see a draft coming anytime soon.

Well.. I guess we need establishing what the heck we are in the mid east for. Congress can by a sense of the Congress pronounce this to the Nation. If we need more folks in uniform because to have too few will endanger the ones we do have in uniform then I say go get more folks either by the draft or by stepped up enlistment efforts. I don't see the latter so I assume the DOD is fine as it is. But, if they don't get more because it is politically bad.. then they have committed the greatest sin imaginable.

Heard it from where? Echoing around your anal cavity? Or is it just some jizz spittle that involuntarily came spewing forth from your 'holster that whoever types for you mistook for a coherent thought and posted it here? Sorry noob you're gonna have to do better or go back to OT with the rest of the kiddies.

That's awesome. Call me a kiddie while you sprinkle your post with witty banter like "anal cavity" and "jizz zpittle."

Since you still cant seem to grasp the concept of what a rumor is, i'll quote the definition for you:
A piece of unverified information of uncertain origin usually spread by word of mouth.
Unverified information received from another; hearsay.

Unfortunately, you seem to be confused. When i said rumor, i was referring to the word defined above. Not a "Mr. Rumor," whom i may quote to you from.

According to every report I've read the violence and killings are getting more frequent not less as we hoped. All I got to go by is that and looking back at history of these types of geurilla conflicts which seem to escalate. Also the Cia recently said most of this terror is "home grown" indicating popular support. Who really knows though? Obviously the administration did'nt even with thier brilliant minds to access from pentagon to CIA to private policy institutes and have even admitted recently they did'nt expect this amount of resistance. Hope for the best plan for the worst.

lol.

Really, youre trying way too hard. I know you're probably pounding your keyboard right now, trying to prove to the P&N forum that you're worthy of your leet internet hardass status, but is it really worth it? Are the few moments of gratification you recieve between pressing the 'submit' button and someones response worth the ballooning aura of stupidity that emanates from your screen name?

Personally, i'd think not. But youre welcome to disagree.

Exactly. Rumsfeld came into office determined to shrink the .mil not expand it. End strength numbers are about the same with a slight increase in the Army that was put in by Congress not the Pentagon. Retention is up, recruiting is good (everyone will make goal with the possible exception of the Army reserve) and the Rangel/Hollings class warfare proposals are safely buried in committee where they belong. The next retention milestone will be when the remaining "stop-loss" measures are removed but as of right now there is no reason to think that a draft is even being conidered let alone implemented.

Of course if you hear "rumors" contradicting any of this please feel free post them.

I'm not the one posting "rumors" on the internet in the vain hope that I might impress someone with the innuendo that I am in a position to "know" or "hear" something important. That probably works in that AOL chatroom you usually troll in or maybe over in OT with the other kiddies but it doesn't go unchallenged here. Sorry.

I'm through with you now, newb.
You're dismissed.

Interesting.

First, i'd like to say im glad you chose to disagree. Talking to a 40 year old with the mentality of a 15 year old is actually rather amusing.

That said, how did you manage to extrapolate from my 3 fragmented sentences that i implied i was in a "position to hear something important" or "trying to impress people"? If it were true, i'd be amazed at your powers of deduction. Truly, you'd have to have some sort of supernatural powers. Unfortunately, your speculations were just bluster and clumps of stupidity wrapped in a giant case of penis envy.

A rumor is just that. Unsubstantiated information heard through the grapevine. It's not fact, its not impressive, its just what it is. Perhaps if you had a greater grasp of the english language, you never would have initiated an argument as stupid as the one you're currently backpeddling in.

But yes, if it makes you feel better, calling me a "newb" for the third post in a row makes me feel thoroughly owned. I'm sure you can neff with a head held high now, sure in the fact that your status as AT's most intellectual poster remains unchallenged.

Bye!

I honestly wouldn't know about 'most intellectual' poster, but he's definitely the front runner in the race for 'most colorful'. ;)

PCG- You're obviously "trying to impress people" with this ridiculus banter. Give it up act like an adult and stop trying to one up the other guy. If not, you'd taken it to PM's by now or provided some source for your rumour instead of diverting attention by arguing semantics.

PS. what you said to fencer was extremly rude too in that other thread.

i didnt know Germany [just an example] was a communist country or had a dictator for a leader.

on a side note, i wonder what happened to the good old German war-mongering spirit? youd think that after all the wars they started and participated in, and then the long drought of military conflict involving them that theyd be pretty hot for some action in Iraq.

the USA happily took the task of warmongering country :D

And the world is infinitely better with the US as the 'warmongering country' than any European power. ;)

Sorry, what? Why is it that every time i post, i get a "stop trying to impress people"? Would it be better if i try to camouflage my posts with euphemisms like "anal cavity" and "jizz spittle"? Because apparently you take less offense to that then you do a coherent argument.

And please, drop the "post a source for your rumor" drivel. I've already quote the definition of 'rumor' once, it shouldnt be necessary again.

Ya we all know what a romour is but when most people refer to a rumour they substantiate it by including the grapevine. Such as " In my coaching t-ball games, I've heard from numouous umpires, although they are not on the rules commitee, and it has'nt been decided, the leage is thinking of lowering the bases to prevent injury" thats a rumour.

Right. Sorry. I heard a similar rumor twice. Once from a friend, and once from what i believe was an internet-only newspaper i was linked to.

So... those are the "sources." Is there any particular reason you were so desperate to know? I always understood rumors, especially ones that call themselves such from the start, to not provoke such a heated debate about their sources. They're normally taken with a grain of salt and either ignored or simply kept in the back of the mind.

I suppose i should be sure not to post any further speculation, for fear their mere presence might set off a powder keg of "stop trying to impress us with those rumors you heard from your friend!!"

Not attempting to either further the argument or edify anyone, I would opine that a 'Rumor' garnered while walking behind two 'flag' officers is substantially different than walking behind two blonds at Macy's.. I'd be interested in the one and maybe interested for other reasons in the other.. :)

Actually, you have to look at it from a bigger perspective to see how the evil plan fits together:

Screw up the economy, so more people will enlist/re-enlist because of the poor job market :p

(Remember, during the boom years: The Army etc had a hard time competing with the lucrative commercial sector.)

i do not think there will be a draft unless we get in a shooting war with NK, or plan to have one. if there is a draft, it is a good sign a fight with NK (and possibly china not long after war with NK starts) is not far off.

besides the biggest part of the "iraqi resistance" are not even iraqi's, and have not been for quite some time. and most of the fighting is in the "sunni triangle" by the minority that formerly ruled the majority.
