How does window xp perform in games?

I'm thinking of upgrading my window me to window xp pro, but I'm just wondering how it performs in games. I'm using a thunderbird 1 GHZ with a radeon 8500.
 
I run win2k with a Pii450@504 with 512megs ram and I don't see that big of a perfomance lag. My main lag instagator is my vid card (voodoo3 3000) But I have never used XP and I have heard from people some games don't like XP. But it all depends on what game you are playing too.

Assuming you have a suitable amount of RAM, then it should be perform +/- 1-2% of Win2000 performance levels for gaming... assuming your using fairly recent drivers for the R8500 it should perform between 5% slower then to 5% faster then Win9X depending upon the game.
