How does window xp perform in games?

I'm thinking of upgrading my window me to window xp pro, but I'm just wondering how it performs in games. I'm using a thunderbird 1 GHZ with a radeon 8500.

If you have at least 256 megs of RAM you will get performance pretty damn close to win98.

so..... basically it doesn't perform well without 256 ram? would it perform even better then win2k if I have 512?

I run win2k with a Pii450@504 with 512megs ram and I don't see that big of a perfomance lag. My main lag instagator is my vid card (voodoo3 3000) But I have never used XP and I have heard from people some games don't like XP. But it all depends on what game you are playing too.

Assuming you have a suitable amount of RAM, then it should be perform +/- 1-2% of Win2000 performance levels for gaming... assuming your using fairly recent drivers for the R8500 it should perform between 5% slower then to 5% faster then Win9X depending upon the game.
