Wow, I hope I don't get that much trouble from EVGA. I'm in the process of an RMA and am planning to send out my 8800GTS 640meg tomorrow. Hopefully they'll at least send me back the same card...

What's wrong with EVGA's warranty?

Actually most 7900GT's I've seen have been replaced with 7950GT's. I'd definately keep bugging them. Or post on their forums, usually people who post on their forums get looked at by EVGA.
Technically though it's not their fault the 8600GTS blows. I mean once the 7 series is phased out theres not much they can do. They could upgrade it to 8800GTS but that would be like doubling its value and a free StepUp. I doubt they could take that hit for every who wants to RMA. Anyone who wanted to would want a new greater card, would just RMA it whenever the last series phased out and get a card back and just double the value of the card.

Ever actually read what it is?
First off, it's not lifetime unless you register.
And once you register, you just locked yourself as the sole warrantied user, so if you ever want to sell the card, the next owner is f*cked.
Not to mention the OP's situation, which should never happen.
It's something companies try pulling on less knowledgeable users.

Out of curiosity, the reason I'm RMAing my 8800 is that a capacitor wasn't fully soldered on and it fell off. Should I include that capacitor in the static bag when I ship the card, or should I put it in a tiny plastic bag of it's own, or even include it at all? I just don't want them to think the thing broke off while it was being transported.

Here's hoping that eVGA doesn't start looking like PNY.
