I had sirius for awhile but I didn't drive enough to make it worthwhile. But all the rock stations here in Bmore are awful, I either listen to local sports radio or NPR.

Step 1: Turn on FM Radio
Step 2: If there is no song on station or if it isn't a song I want to listen to, switch station preset.
Step 3: Repeat step 2
Step 4: If nothing found via steps 2 and 3, switch to AM sports talk radio.
Step 5: When sports talk radio goes to commercial, repeat steps 1 through 4.

It's pretty awful. I listen to NPR or CDs.

In SE Florida the stations play pretty much the same as in the OP. I don't know where to listen to new rock music anymore. Is there any? I try y100 which is supposed to play 'top' stuff but it ends up being god awful pop or crap rap/hiphop/r&b trash.

Must be a lot of lobotomy patients or others with severe head trauma to care about what was happening with the no-talent hacks on American Idol/Random Lame Sitcom or what "cute" thing the idiot DJ's brat said last week.

Haven't willingly listened to FM in a long while.

Between my ipod and XM sat radio I haven't needed to and been the happier for it.

either NPR, alternative (rarely), oldies, or 99.9 after 9PM for dance music...and even then that is generous because i always have my iphone playing my music instead.

Nope, not legal. I don't see how it's any different then loud music coming from your speakers. It's not like I have noise canceling headphones. Either way, the music keeps me awake on my boring ass 30 minute commute to school through the corn fields of Illinois.

And yes, I used to plug it into my auxiliary port.

Top 40 stations are predictable just the same. Take a look at the chart, and take the first 5 songs, you'll be all but guaranteed to hear them at least once every hour.

Some of the local stations have a decent amount of variety, but I still don't really listen to the radio much. I have a receiver that supports USB so I just load my music onto a flash drive and listen to that in the car.

I know WBCN is (104.1). No idea about 107.3, 101.7 is independently owned. 92.9....no idea.

NPR and my Cowon D2 here. NPR must really like how much people hate most radio stations nowadays :p

FM has taken over the "Top 40" formats held by AM radio a couple of decades ago.

Not much has changed...big mouth DJ's being "cool," (or provacative) playing the same rotation of music...over and over and over and....

Hell, even the "Classic Rock" stations are about the same, although they have more music in their rotation.

there's like 25 songs played over and over
and this is why i have no idea why people go nuts over the fact that the ipod doesn't have an FM tuner while other mp3 players do.

I haven't listened to radio in years, only started recently cause I drive to work now.

I hear Black Eyed Peas, Kelly Clarkson and some hip/hop song all day. Oh, and Katy Perry Vegas.

The radio got stolen out of my car a few months ago so I can't. The wiring got all fucked up and I don't wanna pay to fix it to put the stock radio back in.

So no music in the car? That'd drive me nuts.

On the OP, it bugs the hell out of me too. I've actually considered XM for this reason exactly, but I'm not in the car enough to justify it.

I have my Zune.

Are headphones/earbuds legal in the car? I've seen a lot of people lately with them in, but it seems like it'd be dangerous.

Unless they're noise isolating headphones/earbuds you'll be able to hear about as well as you could with the radio on. My earbuds ARE the hands free headset for my phone, and I'm required by law to use a hands free headset for my phone, so it would seem that I'm allowed to wear my earbuds.

Edit: I listen to classic rock stations. I think they have a longer playlist than stations that play newer music.
