so how are they gonna talk on the phone? ;)

TTY service, you call a certain number and talk to an operator who types in your words, then it appears on a device at the deaf guy's place.

I wonder if a TTY operator has ever had to type in a phone sex conversation.

ROFL!!!

I don?t know but my wife has been cussed out by a some one using a tty operator she could tell by the operator?s voice that she was getting embarrassed. He was calling her a b!tch and all other kinds of nasty names. She finally had to hang up on him

EDIT for spelling

Lemme tell ya... troubleshooting TCP/IP problems through a relay operator is no fun. Half an hour later I asked, "do you have a TTY number I can call you back at?"

Seriously! My wife used to date a guy that was legally deaf and that's how he woke up for college classes.

Wow...I've been trying to find a deaf girlfriend for years now. Seriously...most women just talk too damn much about nothing in particular. I have been getting into fights w/GFs for years now b/c I have a bad habit of just erupting with a stern "Can we get to the point sometime today, please?"

Vibrating cell phone? I really don't know.

Because deaf people have so much use for cell phones.

Sending text messages?

Have you ever sent a text message?!

I send tons of text messages (SMS here in Europe). One month, I've sent about 600 messages :)

There was a deaf guy at my class and he had a cell-phone. Of course, he used it only for text-messages. I fail to see how that is strange or weird.

Just because someone is deaf does not mean that they can't talk. My dads deaf but that certainly doesn't stop him from going on, and on, and on....... You would be looking for a mute girlfriend.

Maybe they use nothing. I don't use an alarm clock. I just seem to be to set my own internal alarm clock and wake up when ever I decide I need to wake up.

Heh. And it may actually be more boring because deaf people usually have a very monotone, and sometimes nasally voice :)

A friend of mine used to live in the dorms with a profoundly deaf person. He could hear a little bit with hearing aids. The first night they moved in together, he goes to sleep. Sometime in the morning, these air horns start going off in the room. He jumps out of bed wondering wtf is going on. He wakes up the deaf guy and is yelling at him telling him there is a fire or something and they have to get out. The deaf guy wakes up and tells him that the sound is his alarm clock. After that, they made an arrangement to where my friend would just wake up early and wake the deaf guy up.
