How does a $20 pizza end up costing $743.85 ??

Why boycott somewhere that has laws in place to punish the fucks who give out bad checks? A check for $20... and it BOUNCED? A man with less than $20 in his account should NOT be buying pizza. They gave him an opportunity to pay the fee, but he never got his mail forwarded. Apparently he also never changed his legal address because then he would have gotten the $40 fee letter in the first place.

So to wrap up:
1.) He paid for pizza with money he didn't have
2.) He didn't get his mail forwarded to his new address (a service USPS provides)
3.) He never changed his legal address

He fucked up in at least three separate ways and you're blaming THE STATE OF MOTHERFUCKING COLORADO?!?!?! Ignore list... you're on it after I'm done in this thread. Jumping Jesus Christ on a cracker that's one of the stupidest things I've ever seen said in this place.

Jumping Jesus Christ on a cracker there's some ridiculous stupidity going on in this thread.

Who the hell pays for a pizza with a check?

To answer you and everyone else, pretty much anyone who orders delivery pizza over the phone pays by check. I'm not going to give my credit card number over the phone and generally don't have $20.00 in cash on me.

Fail on both parts.

1) Who pays for pizza with cheque?
2) Who pays for anything with a cheque?
3) Who buys pizza with < $20 in their account?
4) Who buys dominos anyway?
5) What idiot accepts a check for pizza?
6) How pathetic is your business that you sue for $20?

I think the big fail, is how stupid half of the people in here are about checks bouncing.

I think the people on anandtech have probably never had to rely on using checks to pay a majority of their bills. And I realize a majority of people nowadays don't. However, if you have one large bill that takes your account into the negative, ANY AND ALL subsequent checks coming from that account, regardless of size (ie $1, $20) whatever, will cause it to bounce.

This is precisely why you should almost never allow automatic bill pay to be used on a checking account if you can help it. If the electric company, phone company, etc decide to hit you by accident with a massive bill one month...it can send you into the negatives, and then its up to you to fight it and fix every bounced check that took place after the fact.

I use automatic bill payment for my car, insurance, and rent. I never let my account run out of money. It's pretty easy to keep track of how much money is in your account, and how much you will have left after bills, especially with online banking. Anyone who's financially responsible knows this.

Ok troll...

So you better keep at least 32k in every checking account that you have to automatic bill pay.

A lot of people probably don't have more than $1500-$2000 in their checking accounts. Keeping money in a checking account means you probably aren't getting much in terms of interest. $1500 water/gas/electric bills aren't uncommon. Get off your high horse. Mistakes happen.

Yep because I know what's in my bank account, and what's coming out I'm trolling... 🙄

Nice try. Done talking to you.

For the rest of you, be aware that for bills that aren't a set amount (gas, electric, water) you have to be careful. As a simple mistake such as a broken toilet or incorrectly read meter might cause you to receive a bill for SUBSTANTIALLY more than your normal one.

If you have automatic bill pay on these, you will have to go through the process of recovering your money from that company as well as any damages you may incur from bouncing $20 checks and such after the fact.

I would never set up automatic bill payment on a bill that wasn't a static amount. That's just asking for trouble. And 32K? Where did you pull that number from??? Anyway never mind, I see you just call anyone you don't agree with a troll... good job.

Who the FUCK still uses FUCKING checks? I am such a FUCKING pimp I use wire transfer and automatic bill payment for everything. FUCK."

Personal checks have plenty of uses, especially if you run a small business or non-profit organization.

The problem isn't that he wrote a check. The problem is he didn't have $20 in his account.

I happen to know the guy's Ex-wife, I bet she is so glad to be away from such a loser, hope he enjoyed the pizza.

Well just think of the most beautiful lady you can and that would be her. Oh guess what? That girlfriend he's seeing, Well she's marrying him tomorrow. I wonder how much she knows about this? Hmmmm?

I live in CO and I know Russell. I am telling you this is not uncommon for him or out of character for him. I have seen him talk his way out of shit nobody else would be able to. He has posted a response to try to redeem himself. Turns out he called the news station himself to try to prove a point against Dominos, but it flipped on him and made him look like an idiot who has a flawed story and is irresponsible. Here is the link of his responses and others comments. I have no sympathy with him as I have seen his actions firsthand. Not a smart move to draw this kind of national attention to himself. Not a smart guy at all.

ROFL what the fuck? Are his friends registering for any forum that's discussing the incedent?

I have some of mine on automatic bill pay, but it doesn't pay it right away. So if there was an outrageous bill you still have plenty of time to dispute it if needed.

It's not rocket surgery.

Autopay with upper limit for utilities.
