I watch them on my 50" Mitsubishi TV, from my Mitsubishi DVD player running through my Onkyo w/ Sony speakers suround sound.

Unfortunately I get these stupid black bars at the top and bottom of the screen on some of the movies. I haven't been able to get them to go away. ;)

my computer.

you can't go wrong with a 19" flat screen monitor and klipsch speakers, now can you?

well, i guess you can. but then, i'm a high schooler, so purchasing a t.v. for something my computer can do is just stupid.

Ok here is what I do and I think you will see there is a good use for a DVD rom

I have a PC that I use only for the Playback of DVDs. It it connected to a Sony 3 tube projector and running at 1280x1024 32bit color. I project the image on a screen that is 10ft wide and 8ft tall. I also have a SB live that goes into a sony 5.1 digital decoder. this is in turn connected to my home stereo.
I have no idea what you guys are doing to make the picture look grainy on the PC. Mine looks like film, 1280x1024 is a much higher res than the 640x480 of a TV.

Both.

I run a DVD in the background while doing everything else on the computer. When I need a break or come up to a funny part, I just watch the dvd for about 5 min. or so. Especially like to run spaceballs or highlander in the background.

Choices

I've got 3 dvd players:

1. Sony 3000 (1st gen, kickass player)
2. Apex 600A (el cheapo, but plays MP3 and has region defeat)
3. 8x DVDROM (and yes, I sometimes watch on the monitor)
