How do you think G.W. is doing so far?

Politically, quite well... even with the Senate changing hands. He's managed to get his tax cut through more or less intact, enough to take political credit for it.

Economically, I don't like the tax cut. It does nothing to simplify the tax code, which is a huge mess, and I'd rather see larger debt repayments versus tax cuts anyways.

Overall, he's been effective in pushing his agenda but things will only get more difficult from now on especially with the Democrats controlling the Senate. He's done enough to satisfy the right wing of the Republican party, now he has to move towards the centre and work with the Democrats. So, no major screwups yet but its still early... give him some time.

He's done an average job... but done its not actually HIM doing anything. :D Economically, he can't do jack squat about anything as its just American's time of recession. Ups and downs. As for his tax cut.... he's one big idiot.

I think he has done rather well so far. Made promises on the campaign trail and have actually carried them to congress. Whether congress keeps some of them intact, like education or more energy, is up to the Dems. Now lets see if they can actually be bipartisan instead of their meaning of bipartisan legislation.

I think he's doing great. It's a train wreck. If he keeps it up the Deomcrats should easily retake the house and firm up the senate.

As for the tax cut............ Very Good job. :)

Has everyone seen how much they get back? I received a tax calculator link via email..... http://www.heritage.org/taxcalculator

I love the money I get back. Guess I will have to go out and buy something with it. Oops that might help the economy. :)

Like everything he has done in his life, he's doing an adequate job. Good thing he is surrounded by smart advisors (including his dad on foreign policy!)

Economically, the tax cut was an excellent idea. The taxcut gives the average consumer more money, which means theys will increase spending, thereby helping the current economic slump. His idea was to jumpstart the economy, but it will take some months for it to actually take effect.

Every government? Don't make me go searching for proof that you are exaggerating again.

I'd rather have an average person with good ideals and morals then a meglomanic that tried to micro-mangae everything himself and did not listen to his advisors.

Javelin, I agree with you, tax simplification is desperately needed. There are way too many tax accountants that are just a drain on the economy. Simplifying the tax code would also give the economy a boost.

Overall though, I would say Pres. Bush is doing a good job and probably better then the alternatives we had.

I think his only agenda is to satisfy all those people that help him to be president.
He is still an idiot though.

Czar, just one example.

dailynews.yahoo.com
WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Australian Prime Minister John Howard, who has backed controversial Bush administration positions on Taiwan, the environment and missile defense, will visit Washington in September, the White House said on Monday.

That is unless you care to argue that Australia is not a "major government".

The major reason the European countries were "pissed" off is that Bush did not roll over and play dead by agreeing to the Kyoto accords. The way it was drawn up the US would of been a third world country in a few years while Europe would have gained in the world economy. China did not even have to follow the treaty. I'd say he did a godd job in pissing them off over that.

etech, just one example

http://www.observer.co.uk/international/story/0,6903,504471,00.html

'The common European perception is of a shallow, arrogant, gun-loving, abortion-hating, Christian fundamentalist Texan buffoon,' a senior official told the New York Times yesterday.

Although he will take few specific proposals with him, Bush has made clear that his visit to five countries, including a meeting with Russia's President, Vladimir Putin, in Slovenia - a country that Bush once famously confused with Slovakia - is about winning over the hearts and minds of Europe's sceptical leaders who regard him as a lightweight on the international stage.

Few - even in the White House - expect any agreement to emerge this week, which is not entirely surprising, given that Bush has not even decided what kind of a missile defence he intends to build.

On other issues Bush's visit to Europe may be ill timed, arriving in a continent with a deep revulsion for the death penalty on the day that the US carries out its first federal execution - that of the Oklahoma bomber Timothy McVeigh - tomorrow.

All of which perhaps explains the low expectations surrounding Bush's visit, especially in his meeting with Putin.

There is so much more to it than the Kyoto agreement.

Czar, I am glad that you could find such a completely unbiased and factual site to quote from.

look up sarcasm

You never have explained why someone from another country is so fascinated with American politics. Care to explain?

All news sites are biased one way or another, all based on where they are and who owns them.

The reason why us foreigners are so interested in US politics is because what the US does effects the world. What leaders of other contries do also effects us and we are also interested in them. Like now I´m interested in the new president of Japan, he has stated that the Japanese army will no longer be used just for basic defence, that worries me because that effects the world. Like in Biodome "dont think localy, think glooooobaly" :p;)
