How do you 'take a break?'

I've been eating super healthy the last two or three months (trying to really cut carbs) and I've lost 50+ lbs since May. Pretty good. I try to take a diet break every three months or so for 1-2 weeks. Now I'm not pigging out, but generally eat a variety of healthy and 'not ideal' foods during this break. I also try and take a week long break from the gym.

I was in FL last week and no gym and no diet restrictions= I gained 5lb while I was away. Not happy about gaining it, but I would be 'ok' with just 5lb gain as I really ate high carbs and low protein. First slice of Pizza and a burger in 3-4 months+. My back has been bothering me for about a month after being super stupid and doing ab crunches wrong and I pulled a muscle in my lower back. So I think I'll take next week off from gym and go another week of the non-diet.

What about you? When/why do you take a break? How long?

I have a cheat meal once a week usually.

You can still have a burger and pizza while on a diet in my opinion so long as you're not putting yourself into a calorie surplus.

I personally would have a hard time going on a very strict diet for 3 months and then doing 1-2 weeks of splurging. One to two weeks of not minding your diet (life style alterations) only makes it that much harder to get back on track--it would for me anyways.

If you're taking a week off of working out and then compound it by not eating clean in my opinion you're only making your goals harder to reach or at least they'll take longer. If you can't workout that's a good time to be extra mindful about what you're eating (if you have weight loss or aesthetic goals anyways).

I ate even healthier when I lived in Phoenix than I do now (still pretty good) and my consistent cheat meal would be In n Out 😛

Other than that, I didn't really worry about it. If I had a craving, I went for it...I just didn't let it happen more than once or twice a week.

I do a cheat day once a week. More like, whenever I want (more like a cheat "meal"), since I mostly eat healthy because I've learned how to make healthy food taste yummy, so I actually enjoy eating the foods on my diet - grilled salmon, steak, etc. I don't really feel like I need to take a break from it because it's foods that I like to eat since they are tasty.

Except I suffer from chronic low energy and have been off the wagon like a year :whiste:
